Group members
( Thulani, Flora, Richard,Elphas and Tony)
Introduction
Observation:
1. In Welverdiend the trees
are cut and sprouting.
2. In the college the trees
are tall and scattered.
Questions:
1. Why the trees were cut?
2. How much longer can
they keep cutting?
Hypotheses:
1. There is less wood in
Welverdiend than around
the college
2. Certain species have
been lost in Welverdiend
Methods
• We set the radius of two meters on three
circular plots on each side.
• Measure the thickness of the stem and the
heights of the tree.
– Did not measures stems < 2cm
• We count the number of stems on the tree.
• Identified the species in a plot.

Conclusions
• Rejected hypothesis 1
– There is not less wood in Welverdiend
• Rejected hypothesis 2
– There are as many species at Welverdiend as
at College
– But some species from the College were
missing from Welverdiend
