


The certificate of origin is a document certifying the country in which the
product was manufactured, and in certain cases may include such
information as the local material and labour contents of the product.
The certificate of origin (C/O) is an alternative to the declaration and/or
legalization of the commercial invoice. The C/O is based on the rules of the
country of origin.
The country of origin is the country where the goods are grown, produced
or manufactured. The manufactured goods must have been substantially
transformed in the exporting county as the country of origin, to their
present form ready for export. Certain operations such as packaging,
splitting and sorting may not be considered as sufficient operations to
confer ofigin.
Bill of Lading
A bill of lading is a document issued by a carrier, e.g. a ship's master or by
a company's shipping department, acknowledging that specific goods have
been received on board as cargo for the purpose of transportation to a
place of destination and to a particular consignee. This form is usually
signed by the master of the ship or the shipping department of the
company that will transport the goods to the consignee.
The term "bill" means, a schedule of costs for services, and verb "to lade"
means to load a cargo onto a ship or other form of transport.
Bill of lading (combined) involves the use of at least two different types of
transport from road, rail, air, and sea.
Types of ocean bills of lading:
1.
Straight Bill of Lading
Nonnegotiable bill of lading, only notifies that the carrier is to deliver the
goods to a specified person at a specified place.
2.
Order Bill of Lading
Order bill of lading is also known as a negotiable bill of lading. The
carrier has to give the goods only person who is written on endorsement
of bill of lading as consignee. A negotiable or shipper's order bill of lading
can be bought, sold, or traded while goods are in transit and is used for
letter-of-credit transactions. The customer usually needs the original or a
copy as a proof of ownership to take possession of the goods.
