• Deadline for downloading/looking at 2014 key stage 2

Published reception baselines
• Deadline for companies to get 10% of schools
committed to them by April 2015
• The companies then report back to DfE, so may not
be able to honour that commitment.
• VA from Rec or KS1 in 2022 for progress floor
standard – check contracts
• In Sept 2016, only a reception baseline will be used
for VA progress floor standard in 2023
• Meeting with inter LA group – list of questions

Teacher Assessment section of NCA tools. So Southwark LA can get
school profiles out as early as possible we are asking that you also
submit the data to Southwark Stats

Moderation overview

Moderation Visits
• Letters go out for the last week in the Spring term
• Provide ranked class list for R, W and M in KS1 and W
in KS2 1 week before visit. EYFS - class score sheet for
all 17 ELGs
• Moderation weeks for KS2, KS1 and EYFS – May/June
• Children selected for discussion - on the visit day for
EYFS and the day before the visit for KS1 + KS2
• Internal and cluster moderation
• Must do tests and tasks before moderation visits
• Changes to judgements after moderation – may need
to provide more evidence

Baselines/On entry assessment
• New LA baseline estimates for 2014....
 Nursery baseline 30 - 50E+ = 39% (was 48% in 2013)
 Reception baseline 40 - 60E+ = 48% (was 55% in 2013)
Please remember to treat them cautiously as they are unvalidated
• 2 week snapshot on-entry assessment….or earlier????

OFSTED guidance
• OFSTED inspectors have had a training update re
assessment without levels
• NAHT advise to keep using existing levels
• Range of evidence (e.g. tests, pupils work, own records)
• Consider what progress pupils are making
• Use of formative and summative to improve teaching
and raise attainment
