Started in 2010 to create a clear path for transfer that provides structured advising and
assistance through the admissions process. Develop a more prepared transfer studentminimize transfer shock.
Long-standing relationship with Central Piedmont Community College/largest feeder- over
850 students enroll each year.
Students are selected from UNC Charlotte’s pool of denied local applicants. Use specific
criteria to identify students who will be successful in the program.
Enroll 110-120 Passport students annually.

Passport Program
Program Outcomes:
1. After one semester at UNC Charlotte, the average GPA of a Passport student
has consistently increased from 2012-2014. Their performance is equal to or
greater than all transfer students who enrolled with between 24-29 hours of
transfer credit.
2. After one semester at UNC Charlotte, the average GPA of students who
completed the UCOL 1000 course has on average been higher than Passport
students who did not complete the course.
3. Many Passport students quickly become active on campus upon their arrival.
We have had students participate in athletics, join Residence Hall council,
become tour guides, study abroad and report for the student media group
(this student covered the DNC for UNC Charlotte during her first week on
campus).
