DELHI TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
Towards greener future
THE PROJECT• The PROJECT SOLARIS is a recognized student-faculty run
research project at Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi
College of Engineering).
•Initiated in the year 2006, the Project aims at developing a highly
efficient solar vehicle and to provide a breakthrough in Solar
Technology.
• Fuelled by its members’ passion for environment friendly and
sustainable technology, the team is dedicated to encourage the use
of Solar Technology to meet the energy requirements.
• Promoting ‘green and clean’ energy, the team participates in
seminars and conferences dedicated to alternate energy to create
awareness and to bring together environment and technology
AIMS OF THE PROJECT• Create an awakening in the country about solar technology.
• Develop technical skills of the Indian engineering students by sharing
with them the technical knowhow and the practical experience.
• Develop management skills, both human and resource management
apart from ability to work as a team.
• Develop technical skills in the field of solar technology, dynamics,
machine design, automobile design etc.
• Develop easily available and economical technology.
• Represent India on a world platform at The World Solar Challenge
to be held in Australia.
• Utilize solar power to cross the speed barrier of 100 kmph.
ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR• Credited with developing India’s First Solar Car in 2006.
• The 2008 Solar Car was put on display at the Akshay
Urja Divas organized by MNRE and at the Auto Expo.
• The 2008 Solar Car had a successful stint at The South
African Solar Challenge.
• Solaris is India’s leading project in the field of Solar Car
development.

THE EVENTThe World Solar Challenge, Australia 2011 is an epic, two-week
race where solar-powered cars run through the length and
breadth of Australia.
Teams design and build their own engineering systems and race
those same machines on a 3000km long track running through
the most demanding terrain that solar cars have ever seen.
The Challenge aims at encouraging the use of renewable
sources of energy.
It is truly a unique adventure, with teams from all over the world
competing to get better and better.
