• Anne Ferguson Building
– The new four storey building at the Western General
Hospital houses five main operating theatres, surgical high
dependency unit, coronary care stroke and metabolic units
and a cardiac investigation suite, new wards for cardiology,
respiratory and urology patients and acute medicine for
the elderly wards
– One entire level is devoted to day care services including
two day theatres and endoscopy rooms
– The building was finished and began occupancy in 2001

largely stuffed by emergency nurse practitioners
working autonomously who look after minor
injuries such as lacerations and fractures, and
have access to X-ray facilities
– There is some consultant input in training and
supervision
