Briefing on DDP in
Math/Applied Math and
Computer Science
July 3, 2007
Introduction
• Jointly offered by FoS and SoC
• From AY 2007/2008
• Two specializations (optional yet key part
of DDP)
– Algorithms and Computation
– Multimedia Modeling
Why DDP?
Common R&D Frontiers
– Computational Complexity
– Design & Analysis of Algorithms
– Optimization Theory and Algorithms
– Mathematical Modelling, Computer Simulation
– Geometric Modelling
– Computer Graphics and Animation
Why DDP?
• Graduates will be equally well-versed in
– advanced software development
– advanced mathematical modelling and analysis
• In demand by top technology companies,
research and academic institutions.
– Algorithms and Computation for top-end technology
companies
eg: Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, PSA, DSTA, ILOG
– Multimedia Modelling for high-end IDM industry
eg: Lucasfilm, LucasArt, EA (Electronic Arts), Koei,
EggStory
Specialization
1.
Student can choose an area of specialization
“Algorithms and Computation” or “Multimedia Modelling”
2.
From the appropriate specialization list
