Medical Sciences Academy

Medical Careers I :

Intro to safety, anatomy & physiology, infection control, body systems, medical terminology, vital signs, and CPR certification.

Medical Careers II :

Pathophysiology (UC approved elective): Diseases connected to the body, hands-on testing for diseases.

Medical Careers III :

Medical Assistant : Back Office, working with patients, doing injections, EKG’s, surgical set-up.

Engineering and Manufacturing Academy

Two pathways: 1. Industry-Certification/Community College Pathway *Take Manufacturing/Engineering Drawing 2. Engineering Technology UC/CSU Engeering Pathway *Take Manufacturing/Engineering Drawing or Engineering Tech

Class Placement and Homework Expectations

Expect 30 minutes per night of homework for each academic class. Honors classes may require more.

The computer arranges your schedule of classes. We are unable to accommodate teacher requests, order of classes, etc.

Freshman Focus

What is Freshman Focus?

A program designed to help students with the transition  A campus that that will help freshmen have a sense of belonging and connectedness to the school and staff in a smaller environment.

 The option to have break and lunch on their own campus, OR the option to join upper classmen on Main Campus.

 Activities and events designed specifically for them by ASB.

 The opportunity to build stronger relationships with grade-level peers.

Freshman Orientation/Link Crew

Thursday August 22, 2013 7:45 – 12:00 noon

Freshmen get “linked” up with an upper classman who will be their Link Crew Leader for the upcoming school year.

Events include:

Introduction to high school including the do’s and don’ts.

Activities with Link Crew Leaders and small group of classmates.

Guided tours of campus.

Activities with freshmen and Link Crew Leaders will be held throughout the school year.

Freshman Registration

Monday, August 26, 2013 8:00 - 11:00 am  Turn in registration paperwork, purchase ASB card, PE clothes, yearbook and spirit wear  Students will receive their student schedule  Counselors available to students on a walk-in basis

First Week of School

 First Day of school - pick up locator on Main Campus starting at 7:15 a.m.

 On the first day of school, schedule changes will be done for scheduling errors only.

 Freshman schedule change day – will have a designated day for Freshman during the first week to make course changes.

Parents are encouraged to communicate with teachers, beginning with Back-To-School Night in September

Esperanza offers many activities, clubs, athletic teams and other ways to get involved.

There is something for EVERYONE!

Be sure to look through the handouts in your student’s folder to learn more about some of the opportunities available. A complete list of campus organizations and advisers is in the EHS Student Handbook.

Clubs and Activities

Award winning Speech and Debate, Mock Trial, and Academic Decathlon teams among the best in the county.

National champion Dance and Cheer Teams

Sports teams that have won 46 C.I.F. Championships and hundreds of League Championships over 30 years.

Over 30 clubs including: National Honor Society, CSF, Red Cross Club, Ecology Club, Rock, Best Buddies, Creative Impulse, PTSA, Art Club, etc.
