earn a high GPA!

Elective courses (if needed)
2. Go to Assist.org to:
• Learn which CSUs and UCs have your
major
• Know if your classes transfer
• Know which classes to take for your major
3. Determine which CSU
campuses are impacted
• Non-Impacted campuses for 2013-14 with
2 or less impacted programs: Bakersfield,
Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, East
Bay, Humboldt, Maritime, Monterey Bay,
Northridge, Stanislaus.
• Most impacted campuses give
priority to students who attend
cc’s in their local service area.
4. Determine if your
desired major is impacted
• Some majors/campuses require a higher GPA
and specific major prep courses for admission to
impacted (competitive) majors. For impacted
majors, local service area priority does not come
into play. Impacted majors include:
 Architecture, Engineering, Psychology and
Sociology and others at Cal Poly Pomona,
nursing at every campus, and more.
5. Meet with CSU representatives
and take campus tours of the
CSUs you are interested in
• Many CSU representatives take appointments in
the Mt. SAC Transfer Center including Cal Poly
Pomona, CSU Fullerton, CSU San Bernardino,
CSULA, etc.
• The Mt. SAC Transfer Center offers tours to
many CSUs up and down the state.
• You can also meet with CSU representatives at
their campuses and/or arrange your own tours.
6. If applicable, earn an AA-T
or AS-T Degree prior to transfer.
• New Associate of Arts for Transfer (AA-T) and Associate of
Science for Transfer (AS-T) degrees.
• Easily earn an associate degree and prepare for CSU
transfer at the same time.
• Guaranteed admission to the CSU system but not to specific
majors or campuses.
• Priority admissions consideration at CSUs with designated
similar majors.
• Once admitted with one of these degrees to a CSU with a
coordinating major, you will be held to no more than 60
semester units to complete your CSU degree in that major.
AA-T or AS-T Requirements
• Complete 60 CSU transferable units or more which
include:
– Completing all IGETC (CSU version) or CSU GE
requirements;
– 18 units in a major area of emphasis as defined by
Mt. SAC; Grades of C or Better in each major class.
– 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
Mt. SAC currently offers a few AATs. See a counselor/advisor and
consult the Mt. SAC catalog for more details or attend an AAT/AST
Workshop offered by Career and Transfer Services.
