Why EGNOS GII (V3)?
• EGNOS V3 will provide the Galileo SoL
• International context is evolving:
−
New GPS frequencies (GPS L2C, L5)
−
Some existing frequencies will disappear (GPS L2 P(Y))
−
New constellations are being developed
−
Other SBAS are coming or planned to be modernized
• This new context opens the door for improved services (e.g. robust
LPV200), new services (e.g. high precision), extended services
(towards SBAS multiregional global coverage)
• Multi-constellation GNSS for major Airlines (commercial aviation
AIRBUS – BOEING) with a quasi – global coverage required in
2020-2025
• Maintains European Industry at the edge of GNSS technology

obso resolution).
• Modular concept enabling any combination SFSC/DFMC
• Full station (ant, clock, rx, front end computer)
• Fully compatible with future qualification/certification
requirements (not a throw-away item).
• Interaction with both V3 phase B2 activities to V3 PDR end
2014 (and possibly beyond)
• Upto 2 different receiver types to serve diversification needs
if maintained for V3
• A few recurrent units will be fielded and provide invaluable
support to V3 kernel design & developments

related algorithms. CPF changes are planned for V2.4.1P and V2.4.2.
•
EV2/EV3 Prolongation of the activities to upgrade the ionospheric reference
scenarios (ICASES II) to support EGNOS V2.X operation and V3 development. Main
objectives are to enlarge the set of available scenarios, to improved the database
(Africa), further studies on the characterisation of the ionospheric .
•


Ongoing studies for the improvement of SBAS in the Polar Regions Arctic
Testbed.

Extension of MONITOR project. Further development to a central Iono data
facility supporting all ESA EGNOS related activities.

Upgrade of tools to support Algo prototyping and performance tests.
