Examples • American Cancer Society • Minnesota Children’s Museum • Salvation Army • Animal Humane Society • Make-A-Wish Foundation • Courage Center • American Red Cross • Minnesota Public Radio Are nonprofit organizations regulated? • Nonprofit organizations are regulated by the government – IRS Form 990 • Nonprofit organizations are regulated by other organizations – Charities Review Council • www.smartgivers.org – Charity Navigator • www.charitynavigator.org Nonprofit Organization Internships Advantages • Nonprofit internships have rewarding and interesting work not found anywhere else – Nonprofit internships provide the opportunity to positively impact people • Nonprofit internships can be a great way to get a first internship – Nonprofit organizations like extra help • Nonprofit internships can provide excellent opportunities – Nonprofit internships provide a variety of growth opportunities by allowing interns to take on many diverse roles – Ex.
