Guidelines for preparing Case Analysis






Practicality- make reasonable assumptions and make decisions
Justification – how you support your decisions
Realism – no recommendation is beyond an org’s means.
Specificity-no broad generalization –5W+ (what, why, when, how,
where and who)
Originality- feasible alternatives (not necessary the same as the
firm’s plan)
Contribute – Group exercise in class and real life. Be openminded to other’s views. Contribute.
Cases prescribed are comprehensive.
 Not confined to concepts discussed in that
session.


Case methods vs. lecture approach
 Be
prepared for a discussion along the lines of “What
would you do, why would you do it, when would you
do it, and how you do it?”
 Answers to the questions:






What are the firm’s most important external opportunities and
threats?
What are the organization’s major strengths and weakness?
How would you describe the organization’s financial condition?
What are the firm’s competitors, and what are the strategies?
What objectives and strategies do you recommend for this
organization? Explain your reasoning. How does what you
recommend compare to what the company plans?
How would the organization best implement what you
recommend? What implementation problems do you envision?
How could the firm avoid or solve those problems?
