ECF2 Release 1
ECF2 Release 1 will provide tools and services that will
reduce the end-to-end cycle time for claims handling and
settlement.
Background
• Market claim handling has seen a massive change in the past 2
years from paper file based face-to-face claims broking to the
widespread adoption of electronic handling of claims (ECF) using
CLASS and the IMR
– Noticeably reduced elapsed times for claim advice throughput
(potentially halved) but greatly increased effort for carriers (2-4 times
more) and electronic volumes set to increase
• Current systems (CLASS and IMR, with ECF screens) not assisting
carriers and brokers in:
– Workflow management
– Document file review
– Management information
– And some transaction types (esp. Binder & Proportional Treaty claims)
not properly supported by CLASS
• Lloyd's wishes to change its claim handling scheme to be more
flexible
ECF2 Release 1 – Benefits
Service benefits
• Reduced turnaround times
• Greater productivity
• More effective claim handling
From improved management, usability and information:
• Managing workload through “workflow services”
