Overview of benchmarking initiatives

Until 1996, performance indicator systems in Moldova’s water sector were applied for a short period of time and for internal use only. For example, during 1982-1990 a primitive database of water supply and sewerage utilities has been established by Ministry of Communal Services of Moldova to help in preparation of various documents for other institutions (Government, local authorities, etc.).

Since 1996 until present, data collection on indicators of Water and Sanitation Utilities, and their study and analysis are systematically and continuously executed in the Republic of Moldova.
