Service and Scholarship Information
offered through the Green River Area
Development District
What is GRADD?
GRADD stands for the Green River Area
Development District
It is a non-profit organization that administers
federal and state grants
Serving the seven counties of: Daviess,
Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, Webster and
Hancock
If you do not live or have not been displaced
from a job in any of those counties, you are not
eligible for WIA services through GRADD

Training Assistance Guidelines
Through the Workforce Investment Act, all adults,
dislocated workers and trade impacted individuals are
eligible to apply for scholarships for in-demand
occupations.
Training services are not entitlement programs. Your
application may or may not be approved for training.
Grant funding varies throughout each fiscal year. Some
years, more people are placed in training than others.
Training may include GED attainment, short-term
training programs, certificate programs, and degree
programs.
Applying for a Scholarship
Complete each question of the application.
Provide your Selective Service number if
required and DD 214 (if applicable).
Attach a current resume.
Attach TABE test scores, Compass test
scores or entry test scores required for
acceptance to your chosen school.
Register with the Office of Employment
and Training or update your existing
registration.

Meet with a Career
Counselor (Academic
Advisor) at the school
you would like to
attend.
The program you
choose must be listed
on our eligible
training provider list
to be considered.
What Programs Are Eligible?
Occupations that have been
determined through labor market
information to be high growth for
our area are eligible.
Some areas of focus include:
Healthcare, Science, Technology,
Engineering, Math, Advanced
Manufacturing.
You can visit
http://dws.ky.gov/provider .asp if
you are unsure if your program is
on the approved provider list.
Applying for a Scholarship
Include any previous or current college
transcripts.
Apply for federal financial aid and attach
documentation showing you did so.
(Whether or not you receive financial aid will not
determine your approval or denial.)
Mail or drop off applications to one of the three
locations listed on the front of the application.
You will be notified approximately 4 weeks
before school starts whether you are approved
or not.
Your Responsibilities if Approved
When you meet with your Training Coordinator, you will
need to provide a “Valid” driver’s license and a copy of
your Social Security Card.
You will be required to attend school full time, every
semester.
You must maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA. If you drop
below a 2.0, you will have one semester to pull it back
up.
You are required to maintain contact with your Training
Coordinator every month; give them copies of schedules,
bills, etc. and discuss your progress.
Six Criteria for Training
Approval:
1. There is no suitable employment available for
you.
2. You would benefit from the training.
3. There is a reasonable expectation of
employment at the end of training.
4. Training is reasonably available.
5. You are qualified to undertake and complete
the training.
6. Training is suitable and available at a
reasonable cost.
What Does the Scholarship
Cover?
Your scholarship helps with the cost of tuition, books,
and any required necessary supplies.
Every case and every budget year is different. If
approved, your Training Coordinator will inform you of
your award amount . Be aware that this amount may
vary from semester to semester.
