Farmers Markets
Farmers Markets are great places to get fresh fruits, vegetables, and
other food products directly from the farmers themselves. Many
farmers market foods often cost the same or less than store bought foods
and most even take food stamp and WIC benefits! Use this chart to help
you find a market close to you!

Lentils with Carrots
Serves 6 (150 calories per serving)
Ingredients:
3 cups water
3 cups finely diced carrots
1 cup dried lentils
2 cloves minced garlic
¼ cup minced fresh onion
½ teaspoon salt
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice
black pepper, to taste
Directions:
Combine water, carrots, lentils, garlic, onion, salt, and bay leaf in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 25 minutes.
Drain water off. Discard bay leaf.
Stir in butter, lemon juice, and black pepper.
