DS Adult Education
Teaching Credentials
♦ Authorize the holder to:
 Teach specific academic and general subjects
named on the credential in
– courses organized primarily for adults
– adult education programs administered by
elementary and secondary school districts
 Serve as a substitute in courses organized
primarily for adults for not more than 30 days for
any one teacher during the school year

Must have at least one year of work experience in
each subject area
 Combinations of acceptable experience:

 Three years full-time experience in subject area
 48 semester units postsecondary training in subject
area plus one year experience
 Advanced industry certificate in subject area plus two
years experience
 One year general education teaching experience
plus two years experience
