Record Keeping Requirements

 Many institutions outsource their record keeping, data reporting, and file storage duties to a third-party servicer of which some charge a fee for accessing student information. In light of this growing trend, school administrators must take steps to insure that Guarantors and Lenders are afforded access to school information upon request (and at no charge) pursuant to Federal Regulations (34 CFR 668.14(b)(7), 34 CFR 682.401(b)(20)). Where access to student information is coordinated by a third-party servicer, school administrators should designate an internal point of contact for lender and guarantor requests. 5/2/2020
