events, meetings, and awards
• E-mail: [email protected]
– Used and useful
• Newsletters are infrequent, but due in part to use of email
such as the announcement of our previous Chairman
receiving the Hevesy Metal – the “Nobel” of Neutron
Activation Techniques in 2009.
IRD Contributions to ANS
• IRD Generated and Submitted to the Public
Policy Committee position statement #73,
“Societal Benefits of Radiation.” Published
on ANS website with other IRD generated
Position Statements.
• Society Leadership:
– IRD Member and Next IRD Vice Chair was the
ANS Technical Program chair – June 2008
Participation with Other Professional
Societies
National Organization of Test, Research, and Training Reactors (TRTR) represents nearly 50 research reactors
IRD traditionally sponsors or co-sponsors one session at each national
meeting devoted to research reactors
Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) – promotes best
approaches and procedures for implementing all aspects of nuclear
materials management
American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
IRD Past-Chair is the ANS Liaison to AAAS Chemistry Division
IRD Services to Membership
