Distribution Summary
(1997-2005)
• Industrial use has declined from 41% to 32% of total
U.S. consumption (-1.9 Tcf)
• Electricity use has increased from 20% to 29% of
total consumption (1.7 Tcf)
• This shift from industrial to electric use has resulted
in an increase in total natural gas that is subject to
weather sensitive demand and pricing
