Implementation – “ REC a think- and do-tank”
• REC carried out more than 3500 projects since
1990… – with the support of the country and field
office network – with programmes, topic areas and
funds
• TAs were introduced in 2004 as a tool to better organise and
manage the existing expertise and knowledge within the network
• The topic areas are managed by REC experts based in different
countries
• This development is a direct result of the continuous efforts over
the last years to strengthen the synergies within the organisation,
to build on the accumulated experience and knowledge and fully
use the available in-house expertise

ECENA
• ECENA (former BERCEN) is one of success
stories of SEE

cooperation in improving implementation and

• Supports environmental agencies
and inspectorates to address current
challenges in improving their
capacities and the exchange of
experience and best practices

ECENA MAP
• ECENA Multi-Annual work Programme 20072010
• Summarizes the ECENA priorities and activities for
the given period
• Developed taking into consideration the EU accession
priorities of the potential candidate and pre-candidate
countries
• Builds upon the achievements of the previous
BERCEN/ECENA MAP 2003-2006, as well
www.rec.org
ECENA MAP
• We hope that
• the ECENA MAP will be regarded as an evolving document,
subject to change as new priorities arise for which additional
funding is obtained
• different financial arrangements ( CARDS and PHARE) will not
slow down the implementation of the programme
• We are convinced that
• Commitment of the beneficiaries to work together on the MAP
implementation is strong
The REC is proud to work as secretariat and
implementing agency with high commitment to
achieve concrete and measurable results with visible
impact in the region
