About Clip Art

You can use the Clip Gallery to preview a wide variety
of pictures, photographs, sounds, and video clips that
you can insert in your documents. To insert a clip, click
Insert Clip Art on the Drawing toolbar.
What is the Clip Gallery?
You can use the Clip Gallery to preview a wide variety of
pictures, photographs, sounds, and video clips that you
can insert in your documents. To insert a clip, click
Insert Clip Art on the Drawing toolbar.

Getting Help for the Clip Gallery
 The
Clip Gallery includes its own Help system,
where you'll find such information as how to
organize your clips in categories, how to assign
keywords to clips for easy searching, and how to
work with the Clip Gallery by using shortcut keys.
 To get Help, click Help in the Clip Gallery.
Adding Clip Art
 To
add a clip art
image from the
Microsoft library to
a document, follow
these steps:

Select Insert |
Picture | Clip Art
from the menu bar.

To find an image, click in the
white box following Search
for clips. Delete the words
"Type one or more words. . ."
and enter keywords describing
the image you want to use.
- OR Click one of the category
icons.
Click once on the image you
want to add to the document
and the following popup menu
will appear:

Insert Clip to add the image to the document.
 Preview Clip to view the image full-size before adding it
to the document. Drag the bottom, right corner of the
preview window to resize the image and click the "x"
close button to end the preview.

Finding clips

The Clip Gallery includes a Search feature to help you
locate the right clips for your document. To use the Search
feature:
 Click
the Search for clips box in the Clip Gallery
 Type one or more words that describe the type of clip you
want. (If you can't find the clip you want in the Clip
Gallery, there are a number of other resources for picture,
music, sound, video, or animation clips, including Clip
Gallery Live, a Web site where you can preview and
download additional clips).
Editing and Formatting a Graphic


Activate the image you wish to edit by clicking on it
once. Nine handles will appear around the graphic.
Click and drag these handles to resize the image. The
handles on the corners will resize proportionally while
the handles on the straight lines will stretch the image.

More picture effects can be changed using the Picture
toolbar. The Picture toolbar should appear when you
click on the image.
 If
it does not appear, select View| Toolbars| Picture from
the menu bar to activate it.

 Insert
Picture will display the image selection
window and allows you to change the image.
 Image Control allows to to make the image
grayscale, black and white, or a watermark.
 More/Less Contrast modifies the contrast
between the colors of the image.
 More/Less Brightness will darken or brighten
the image.

Click Crop and drag the handles on the activated image
to delete outer portions of the image.
 Line Style will add a variety of borders to the graphic.
 Text Wrapping will modify the way the document text
wraps around the graphic.
 Format Picture displays all the image properties in a
separate window.
 Reset Picture will delete all the modifications made to
the image.

Adding an Image from a File
Follow these steps to add a photo or graphic from an
existing file:
Select Insert | Picture | From File on the menu bar.
 Click the down arrow button on the right of the Look
in: window to find the image on your computer.
Highlight the file name from the list and click the
Insert button.


Click Insert Clip Art on the Drawing toolbar, and then click
the tab for the type of clip you want to add.
Select the category to store the clip in, and then click Import
Clips.
Locate the folder that contains the clip you want to add, and
then select the clip.
Under Clip import option, select the option you want.
For Help on an option, click the question mark and then click
the option.
Click Import.
In the Clip Properties dialog box, type a description of the
clip and choose the options you want.

provided in the Clip Gallery in any advertising,
promotional and marketing materials, or product or
service created with Word, provided that the material,

clips in any library or clip art product consisting
primarily of clip art images, sounds, or movies.

Hold down ALT, and then, by using the numeric
keypad, type 0 (zero) followed by the character code.
Automatically insert an arrow, face, or
other symbol
1. You can automatically insert symbols that are
included in the built-in list of AutoCorrect
entries — for example, arrows and faces. First,
turn on AutoCorrect (Tools | AutoCorrect | select
the Replace text as you type check box).
2. Then type a predefined AutoCorrect name in the
following list and watch Word automatically
replace it with the appropriate symbol. For
example, type --> to insert .

Inserting AutoShapes


Add an AutoShape, circle, or square
On the Drawing toolbar, click AutoShapes, point to a
category, and then click the shape you want.
To insert a shape with a predefined size, click the
document. To insert a different size, drag the shape to the
size you want. To maintain the shape's width-to-height
ratio, hold down SHIFT while you drag the shape.
Tips to Drawing a Circle and Square
To draw a circle or square, click Oval or Rectangle
on the Drawing toolbar, and then click the
document.
 To add color, change borders, rotate, or add shadow
or 3-D effects to an AutoShape, select the object,
and then use the buttons on the Drawing toolbar.

Change One AutoShape to another

Select the AutoShape you want to change.

On the Drawing toolbar, click Draw, point to Change
AutoShape, point to a category, and then click the
shape you want.
