– In the final assessment, if the candidates do not either fulfill the
minimum API scores in the criteria as per PBAS Performa or obtain
less than 50% in expert assessment, wherever applicable, such
candidates will be reassessed only after a minimum period of one
year. (6.3.11.)

under CAS will start from 31.12.2008 ; even
if you are eligible before 31.12.2008
– For example; if you become Reader during period
31.12.2000 to 30.12.2002; you will be eligible for
promotion for Professor under CAS on 31.12.2008.

Eligibility:
– Assistant Professors in Stage 1 are eligible for
promotion to stage 2 after completing
• Four years of service with Ph.D. or
• Five years of service with M.Phil/PG Degree in
Professional Courses such as LLM, M.Tech, M.V.Sc.,
M.D., or
• Six years of service without Ph.D/ M.Phil/ PG Degree
in Professional Courses

Minimum Academic Performance
Requirements
– 40 cumulative points from Category III (research and
academic contributions) in the assessment period, i.e.,
from entry level to date of eligibility.
– One Orientation and one Refresher/Research
Methodology Course of 2/3 weeks duration.

Selection Process
– Screening cum Verification process for recommending
promotion.
 Eligibility:
• Assistant Professor with completed service of
five years in Stage 2 is eligible for promotion in
Stage 3 i.e. to

• `.15,600 – `. 39,100 with AGP of `.8000

Minimum Academic Performance Requirements
– 100 cumulative points in Stage 2 from Category III (research
and academic contributions).
– One course / programme from among the categories of
refresher courses, methodology workshops, Training, TeachingLearning-Evaluation Technology Programmes,Soft Skills
development Programmes and Faculty Development
Programmes of 2/3 week duration.

Selection Process
– Screening cum Verification process for recommending
promotion.
 Eligibility:
• Assistant Professor with three years of
completed service in Stage 3 is eligible for
promotion in stage 4. i.e. to

Minimum Academic Performance Requirements
– 90 cumulative points in stage 3 from Category III (research and
academic contributions).
– At least three publications in the entire period as Assistant Professor
(11 Years).
– One course / programme from among the categories of methodology
workshops, Training, Teaching-Learning-Evaluation Technology
Programmes, Soft Skills development Programmes and Faculty
Development Programmes of minimum one week duration.

– Selection Committee Process.
NOTE: If a candidate has already appeared before selection committee in stage
3 for selection as
Reader in Panjab University, then for his promotion from stage 3 to stage
4, selection
committee process is not required.

promotion in stage 5. i.e. to

Minimum Academic Performance
Requirements
– 120 cumulative points in stage 4 or 210 cumulative
points in stage 3 & stage 4 from Category III
– A minimum of five publications (including books);
since the period that the teacher is placed in Stage 3.

CAS promotion is
applicable for University Teachers only
 Eligibility:
• Professor with 10 years of completed service in
Stage 5 is eligible for promotion in stage 6. i.e. to

Minimum Academic Performance Requirements
– Minimum of 500 cumulative points from Category III (research
and academic contributions) in the assessment period.
– Additional credentials are to be evidenced by: (a) postdoctoral
research outputs of high standard; (b) awards / honours /
recognitions / patents and IPR on products and processes
developed / technology transfer achieved; and (c) Additional
research degrees like D.Sc., D.Litt., LLB.,etc.,
