The Rotary Foundation the Assistant Governor’s Role District Team Training Seminar Lee Beam, D7570 Annual Giving Chair What is the #1 job of the Assistant Governor? Well, your #1 job is to assist Governor Woody. OK, so what’s your #2 job? Remind the Club Presidents of what they’re supposed to do next! “To-do” List for the Foundation Club Foundation Goal Form is DUE at PETS – this is where the PE’s set their club goal for Annual Programs Fund giving (sustainer money). Suggest that your PE’s use the 5-yr history chart of their club’s giving to help determine their goal. Club Foundation Goal Form Many club Presidents-Elect will be VERY conservative in setting their Foundation goal. They may have had NO involvement with their club’s Foundation giving or goal-setting, and don’t know what their club is capable of giving. They don’t want to “miss” their goal; so they set a LOW one. You can be the cheerleader to help them set both a realistic goal, yet one that might challenge their club and members! “To-do” List for the Foundation • Encourage clubs to send someone to the Grants Training at the District Training Assembly in March (note: this is before PETS). • Have clubs identify their Foundation chairs on their Club roster in the District database (on/after 07/01). “To-do” List for the Foundation • Work with Lee to set dates for summer/fall regional Foundation training – then encourage your clubs to attend! • Remind your clubs that your Area Foundation Advocate will be happy to present club Foundation programs or help the club with Foundation questions. “To-do” List for the Foundation • November is Rotary Foundation month. Encourage your clubs to schedule a Foundation program (maybe honoring new Paul Harris Fellows). • Remind your clubs to properly recognize their sustainers and PHFs throughout the year to thank them for their contributions and encourage them to continue giving! “To-do” List for the Foundation Lastly, encourage clubs to make regular Foundation contributions. Clubs who bill sustainer contributions with their dues should remit the Foundation contributions quarterly. Thank the clubs who are striving towards their fund goals, and, when appropriate, challenge them to even exceed their goals. “To-do” List for the Foundation And please, work with clubs who aren’t making contributions. You will receive quarterly updates on APF contributions. EVERY club should make their first contribution BEFORE December 31, 2012. And ask us for help, anytime! Doing good in the world……. thanks to you!
