  

Initial proposal floated by Prof Narendra Dahotre for Dept of Metallurgy has been extended to all the Depts The project envisages appointment of a bright candidate from India/Abroad at every Dept.

The selected ‘Endowment Professor’ will launch the research effort at the respective Dept and work with the faculty and the students to promote an excellent academic environment.

1.The candidate will be selected by a committee which includes faculty from IIT and IISc and members of COEP Foundation Board. 2.The basic salary of the candidate will be paid by the institute and COEP Foundation will provide the ‘Research Incentive’ to the Endowment Prof on the top of his salary to make the compensation offer attractive. The salary of the Prof including ‘Research Incentive’ is expected to be on par with the typical compensation offered in reputed institutes such as IITs and IISc. 3.The proposal also provides for the salary of 2 graduate students, travel grant for the Prof/students as well as budget for contingency expenses as well.

4.The institute has agreed to provide the key research infrastructure available to the Chair Professor. An agreement is being set up with Univ of Pune to provide the research facilities to the Chair Prof whenever needed.

5.The performance of the selected candidate will be reviewed on a regular basis by a committee of experts which will decide on the renewal of the grant based on the quality of the research published in the peer reviewed international journals as well as the academic/research performance of the graduate students working on the project.
