POLYCHEM
ACRASTRIP
PRODUCTS
Do you have a true desire to eliminate acetone use
in your facility?
Are you aware of the dangers associated
with using acetone?
Dangers of storage ?
Dangers of improper container grounding ?
Dangers of static charge and sparks?
Polychem Acrastrip has been developed in partnership
with the E.P.A.
all users receive a recognition award from the
DfE division of the EPA after 4-6 months of usage.
WHAT WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED
WHEN THE ACRASTRIP IS FULLY IMPLEMENTED?
Cost savings
A drum of Acrastrip is equal to 8 drums of acetone.
Mainly because of the lack of evaporation and
the ability to continually reuse the solution
This yields an average savings of 40%
In addition, the acetone waste, which is
hazardous, will cost an additional amount
to be removed off site.
This yields a total average savings of 50%
Safety
Acrastrip is non-flammable and safer
for the laminator to use.
It does not contain harmful alkalis
or toxic solvents like many other
acetone alternatives offered
on the market.
Hazardous waste reduction
Acrastrip and resin/gel coat waste is usually non-hazardous
This may help you to no longer be a
Large Quantity hazardous waste generator
As you can see by the various resin/ Acrastrip samples below,
regardless of the resin type, it is easily separated and reusable
Acrastrip is a more effective
and universal product than acetone.
It is much more effective with all
desired cleaning tasks in a fiberglass shop.
Chop gun internal seals, when flushed with Acrastrip,
will last considerably longer due to
the lubrication features of the product.
Cured resin stripping, a task which is ineffective
with acetone, becomes easily accomplished
with Acrastrip products.
Additional applications such as final finish wiping,
floor stripping, gel and glue rig cleaning
are simple tasks for Acrastrip
ACRASTRIP 600 CRR
The original formulation which can
be used as is or diluted with water.
Recommend the undiluted solution for lamination
managers who are fearful of introducing water into
their laminate or recommend they use it diluted for tool
cleaning and then rinse with the undiluted 600
concentrate for removing any excess water.
ACRASTRIP 800
A HIGHER STRENGTH VERSION OF
THE ACRASTRIP 600 WHICH CAN NOT
BE DILUTED WITH WATER.
USE THE 800 ON ALL RESINS...
ESPECIALLY EPOXY AND VINYL ESTERS
FINAL TIPS ON PRODUCT SELECTION
Both the Acrastrip 600 and the Acrastrip 800
provide benefits to the user.
Try the AS-600 where you need a single product to perform a
wide variety of applications. This is especially true in the marine
industry where one may need a product that can clean tools and
flush guns but you may also need a product that can be used in
gel coat patch, final finish, post sanding and non-skid cleaning.
You can vary the dilution ratios for each application from
undiluted for full strength tool rinsing to 5% -33% solutions for
the other applications.
If your applications are limited to resin cleaning and gel coat
flushing, and an extra strength product is desired, then
AS-800 would be the correct product selection.
HOW TO TEST
THE ACRASTRIP
KEY APPLICATIONS
Examples:
• Tool
cleaning (Rollers, scissors, brushes, etc.)
• Internal mix chop guns
• External mix gun tips
• RTM systems
• Marble wash containers
• Pultrusion molds and equipment
• Resin removal on a wide variety of parts
• Cured resin stripping
• Gel coat guns and rigs
• Methyl Methacrylate glue rigs
• Floor cleaning
Among the applications,
identify the priorities
Then set up your test
If it’s roller and Misc. tool cleaning,
Use the Acrastrip test kit
Place the grit guard at the bottom of the 5 gallon pail
Then add the 2 gallons of Acrastrip 600 or 800
Take a clean tool and purposely contaminate it with activated Resin.
Using agitation against the grit guard, clean the tool
shaking off the excess Acrastrip when done.
Now retrieve tools which have already been cleaned in acetone.
Demonstrate to the customer how “sticky” the handles remain.
Submerge them in the Acrastrip and wipe them off with a dry rag.
Hand the tool back to the customer for their inspection.
Explain that the lubricity left behind will not interfere with the cure of
The resin but will effectively lubricate all parts for extended tool life.
Show the customer the filter bag. When you’re done with your demo, remove
the grit guard. Agitate the solution and submerge the bag in the used fluid,
using the garter to hold it in place around the pail.
Explain that the large resin particles which will separate over night,
can be captured and removed with this bag.
Offer the Equipment program for those who may qualify
Then you can continue to use the
Acrastrip by providing those kits to
each laminator as their individual
work station
If you want to test a chop gun flush,
fill the flush pot with either Acrastrip product.
Be sure the flush pressure is at or above 60 psi.
Flush the gun into a 5 gallon pail for eventual reuse
in the tool cleaning operation.
Be sure to also flush gel coats in the same fashion -The Acrastrip can clean the outsides of the gun
and rig equipment as well!
OTHER APPLICATIONS:
It can strip resin off the floor by leaving a
small amount on the contaminated area (safely)
and scraping that area the following day.
If it’s light contamination, it may come off in minutes
