Schedule not like that?




You must have earned Transfer Credit (AP or
other college course credit)
A course was added to your schedule in a
Knowledge Area (to count toward Common
Experience Curriculum Requirements)
ES 220 Statics - if both MA131 and PH131
completed
Other possibilities: SA&S 100, ES 41 …
Technology Serving Humanity
SA&S 100 Co-Writing and
ES 41 Spatial Thinking Skills



SA&S 100 Co-Writing: Pre-enrollment
based on SAT Writing; linked to UNIV 190
ES 41 Spatial Thinking Skills: Preenrollment based on Spatial Visualization
Survey; research-based
Both are 1 credit hr; neither course
is required; they are meant to
strengthen targeted academic
success skills

Technology Serving Humanity
Knowledge Areas (KAs):
Cultures and Societies (CSO)
Contemporary and Global Issues (CGI)
Imaginative Arts (IA)
Science, Technology, and Society (STS)
Economics and Organizations (EC)
Individual and Group Behavior (IG)
Also Common Experience University
Courses (UNIV) – have two or more
KAs designated
The knowledge area requirement is
met by completing 4 KAs in a
minimum of five courses beyond UNIV
190 (so at least one University
Course).
Technology Serving Humanity
The Communication Component
Courses designated as communication
intensive are assigned communication points
on a scale of one or two (C1 or C2) to indicate
the extent of communication experience in
that course. Beyond the Clarkson Seminar
UNIV 190 (a C2 course), students must obtain
six more “communication points,” at least two
of them within the major at the 300/400 level.
Communication points can be obtained by
taking designated courses, or, with approval,
through co-curricular experiences.

Engineering Studies Seminar Series
Fall 2012
Six informative weeks, Wednesday evenings, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in CAMP 177
Learn about engineering majors at Clarkson, and how to make your choice of major. Anyone
may attend. Attendance by Engineering Studies students is required at each session.









In the first session you will learn about an
overview of the engineering majors at
Clarkson, meet your Engineering Studies
advisor, First Year Advisor, and Engineering
Career Center personnel, and learn about
different tools available at Clarkson to help
you focus on self-assessment and career
exploration.
In each subsequent session you will learn
about the majors:
What does a xxx engineer do?
What is a profile of a xxx engineer?
What kind of education does a xxx engineer
need?
Where does a xxx engineer work?
How can I learn more about xxx
engineering?
SPEED teams, professional societies,
internships, people to talk with….
These sessions will have a 20-minute
presentation on each major. There will be
time for questions and answers in each
session. Come and plan your future!
