AACR2 rules/AACR2 version of CCM & CSR and
RDA instructions (plus local guidelines) for PCC

• Exercise appropriate judgment when reviewing
and editing existing copy for the local catalog

• Some changes require a new description;
listed at RDA 1.6
• Other changes are recorded by modifying the
existing record
• See RDA subchapter “Recording Changes in
[element name]” or “Changes in [element
name]”
• If there are no changes, you can accept the
record as-is (regardless of cataloging standard)

• Make changes to OCLC whenever possible!
• CONSER-authenticated record (has MARC 042)
– Until we’re CONSER-authorized, must
submit changes with proof
• Scans of title pages, etc.
– Ask yourself how important the changes are
relative to the effort

• NEVER re-describe to earlier standard
