A Need for the Affordable
Healthcare Clinic
• More than 30,000 residents are uninsured in
Ingham county.
• Most uninsured residents have Ingham Health
Plan and most of the health clinics do not accept
Ingham Health plan.
• Only seven health clinics accept patients with
Ingham Health plan or without any insurance in
Ingham County.
Mission
Everyone deserves quality healthcare. Affordable Healthcare
Clinic is a nonprofit health organization that serves the uninsured
and underinsured of Lansing, Michigan. This clinic strives to
provide preventative care and health education to promote
healthy people in the community.
Vision
To provide quality, low-cost, medical care to the underserved and
needy population of Lansing, Michigan.
Organizational Goals
Goals help facilitate growth, change, and movement within
an organization; they unite and drive employees to strive to
accomplish similar interests (Conrad, 2012).
• Provide quality healthcare to many uninsured or underinsured
residents in Lansing, Michigan.
• Nurses and physicians will incorporate current and relevant
evidence based research into their practice.
• Assist patients in maintaining an optimal level of health by
decreasing risk factors and treating acute illnesses within our
scope of practice.
• Provide patient care according to professional standards and
guidelines identified in the State of Michigan Nurse Practice
Acts and physician codes of conduct.
• Welcome all patients and staff with a safe and comfortable
atmosphere.
• Ensure all patients are treated with dignity and respect
• Staff will act in a professional manner and maintain patient
privacy following HIPPA guidelines.
Organizational Objectives
Objectives are reflective of an organization’s mission and
initiatives. They are representative of specific achievements the
organization is trying to attain within a certain timeframe (Nagy
& Fawcett, 2013).
• To provide preventive care and health education to all
patients, treating each clinic visit as an educational
opportunity.
• To provide quality, low-cost, medical care to the underserved
population of Lansing, Michigan by following a sliding pay
scale.
• To promote optimal communication with every patient by
providing accessibility to chart information including visit
summary, and lab/test results on clinic or personal computer
with secure login information.
• To ensure nurses and physicians stay current in their practice
by reviewing evidence-based research pertaining to family
and preventative medicine, and attend minimum 75% of all
clinic educational in-services.
• To decrease the number of Lansing residents without access
to preventative care 20% by 2015.
• To enhance the health status of our patients as evidenced by
a decrease in symptoms secondary to disease processes,
specifically hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.

The Affordable Healthcare Clinic is looking for a highly
motivated, energetic Practice Manager to join our team of
healthcare professionals. The Practice Manager is an
excellent communicator, motivates individuals and teams,
and is a resource for all staff. The Practice Manager will be
responsible for staffing, ensuring safe staffing levels at all
times, recruitment, hiring excellent passionate and quality
staff, inventory control, ensuring that equipment is
available to care for patients. Day to day operations fall to
the Practice Manager, who will be visible not only to staff
but to those seeking care at our clinic. There are
opportunities to impact, educate, advocate, and build
relationships with a variety of individuals who have
struggled with consistency within our current healthcare
environment.

Volunteer Board
The Affordable Health Clinic is currently seeking members
to serve on their Board. The responsibility of goal setting
and direction for the organization as a whole falls to the
volunteer board. Individuals that serve on the board are
responsible for community outreach in order to promote
services and gain financial support from key community
stakeholders. Members must be local business
entrepreneurs or community leaders who are active in
promoting a safe and viable community. We will be taking
applications soon, and all candidates will be screened and
interviewed prior to selection. Service terms will be no
shorter than 2 years, and may be up to 4.
Practice Manager
Registered Nurse
The Practice Manager is
responsible for day-to-day
operations of the Affordable
Health Clinic. A Master’s degree
in nursing or a Master’s in
Health Administration is required.
A working knowledge of
evidence-based practice is
essential for success in this
position. A working knowledge
of team concepts, medical legal,
and regulatory requirements is
necessary. Excellent
communication skills,
relationship centeredness, and
customer service is required.
Working with the physician, the
nurse will provide care to all
Affordable Health Clinic patrons
within their scope of practice.
Michigan licensure required. A
minimum of an Associate’s
degree required, but Bachelor’s
is preferred from an accredited
educational facility. RN’s will
possess excellent interpersonal
and customer service skills. Full
time and part time positions are
available.
Physician’s
Assistant/Nurse
Practitioner
Social Worker/Case
Manager
The Physician Assistant and
Nurse Practitioner will provide
patient care based on their
scope of practice under the
direct supervision of the
attending Medical Doctor.
Nurse Practitioners working at
the Affordable Health Clinic will
be licensed Family Nurse
Practitioners, or Emergency
Nurse Practitioners. The
Physician Assistant working at
the Affordable Health Clinic will
be certified in Family Practice,
or Emergency Care. The NP/PA
will possess excellent
interpersonal and customer
service skills.
The Physician Assistant and
Nurse Practitioner will provide
patient care based on their
scope of practice under the

the Affordable Health Clinic will

LPN/Medical Assistant
Receptionist
The Licensed Practical Nurse or
Medical Assistant will be
licensed in the State of Michigan
from an accredited educational
facility. They will provide care,
within their scope of practice, to
all Affordable Health Clinic
patients under the guidance of
the Registered Nurse. They will
possess excellent interpersonal
and customer service skills. Full
time and part time positions are
available.
The receptionist will be a
positive candidate with strong
interpersonal and customer
service skills. Clerical
experience preferred with a
working knowledge Microsoft
Word, and Excel. Computer
skills are also essential for the
patient scheduling system that
is part of the Electronic Medical
Record. High School Diploma or
GED required. Full time and
part time positions are
available.
Physician
The Physician will be a General Practitioner, Emergency Room
physician, or a Family Practice physician, and will provide medical care
to a variety of patients when working in the clinic. The physician is
responsible for directing the patient care to the care team. Physicians
working at the Affordable Health Clinic will possess excellent
interpersonal and customer service skills
Marketing
The Lansing State Journal has new technology
in place which allows employers to purchase
online job postings, this feature provide
unlimited text so that you may thoroughly
describe your job requirements as well as your
company background information. It also
allows one to edit their ad any time during the
30 day run schedule. Additional built in

helps to view responses, activate automatic
