Audio Accommodation

An audio component is available for:
◦ Grade 7 Geography
◦ Grade 8 Mathematics

Audio should be provided only when
indicated by
◦ IEP,
◦ 504 Plan, or
◦ for students considered ELL.

Students using audio should be provided
with headphones.

Use Student Editor to indicate audio
accommodation for appropriate students
under the Testing tab.

REMINDER: This needs to be done BEFORE the
Test Session Tickets are printed.
Student Tutorials & Practice Tests

The Student Tutorials and Practice Tests
can be accessed through the test engine.

The Student Tutorials can also be
downloaded onto computers from
http://occt.caltesting.org.

It is recommended that administrators
(BTCs, and TAs) take the Student Tutorials
and Practice Tests.
Before Testing

All students should be administered the
Student Tutorial and Practice Test for the
subject that will be tested.

Complete training and review your
communication plan with all TAs, and TMs.

Print Test Session Tickets and Summary Page.

Review the Test Administration Manual prior
to testing.

Distribute Test Session Tickets


Students need 3 levels of security to log
onto the test.
 User Name (from Test Session Ticket)
 Password (from Test Session Ticket)
 Session ID (from Summary Page)
Write Session ID on chalkboard or post at the start of
the administration.
Collect as students log on to the test.
 Secure material!

Administer the Test
All students must complete a content
area test within one school day.
 Never start a test unless there is enough
time to finish.
 Additional time must be given as an
extension of the same testing period, not
at a different time.
 A student may pause his/her test for up
to 20 minutes (example – emergency
bathroom break).


Monitor Status

During testing, an administrator may
monitor students’ progress as they move
through the test.
Audit Spreadsheet
Verify all students have completed testing.
 Verify appropriate Not Tested Code has
been applied to student record.

Testing Interruptions

Expect the best, but plan for the worst.

Student is “kicked out” of system:
◦ If a student is "kicked out" of the system, have the student try logging into the
same computer or a computer not currently being tested on.
◦ If the student cannot log back in within 20 minutes from being “kicked out” of
the system, call DRC. Next action depends on the circumstances.


If an unforeseen emergency occurs (e.g., tornado), the DTC must
contact the Office of Accountability and Assessments.
Student responses will be saved in the event of an interruption.
◦ Resumes at first question
◦ Hit next to advance through items.
◦ To verify, check the Review screen.
Not Tested Codes
Students who are not tested must be
coded using Student Editor.
 This must be completed by the end of the
testing window (May 14, 2010).

SDE Approved Codes

The following fields are no longer available in Student Editor:

Other Placement,
Emergency Exempt,
ELL 1st Year U.S. Exempt, and
Invalidated.

This information must be requested through the SDE’s Testing
Status Application made by DTC, Dr. Shirley Simmons.

Upon SDE approval, the information will be applied to the student’s
record and available to view in DRC’s Online Correction System.

ALL requests must be submitted to the SDE Testing Status
Application, no later than May 14.
Accommodation Information

Use Student Editor to enter IEP, 504, and
ELL accommodations.
◦ Prior to testing
◦ After testing, by May 14
Reporting

Immediate Raw Scores
• After the review page when the student ends the test.
• This page cannot be printed.
• This score is considered preliminary and should not be
considered pass/fail.
