GENERAL INFORMATION
 Prague Metro is the fastest and busiest means of transport in the capital.
 Prague Metro has three lines A, B and C.
 Each line is represented by its own colour:
Line A green
Line B yellow
Line C red.
 It operates from 4-5 in the morning approximately till midnight
 During rush hour, there are trains every 1 to 3 minutes. Off-peak there are
4-10 minutes intervals
 It has around 60 kilometers of mostly underground railways.
 Its construction began in the 1970s under Russian supervision and
consultancy
 Line A is now being expanded with 4 new stations to be added.
STATIONS
 There are 57 stations including three transfer stations.
 Stations are quite large with nice design and walls decorated with colored
panels.
 Usually there is one platform serving both directions.
 There are many different exits from the stations so you should follow the
signposts.
 The central hubs include Můstek, Muzeum and Florenc all located in the
city centre where the lines intersect.
 All stations have escalators.
 The deepest station is 52 meters under the ground.
TICKETS







Ticket vending machines are installed in all metro stations.
Tickets are also available at information kiosks and tobacconists.
It is also possible to buy an SMS ticket using a mobile phone.
You must buy and stamp your ticket before boarding the train.
Normally, you need a single ticket which is 24 CZK.
Tourists can buy a 24 hour pass or a 3 or 5 day pass
Season ticket can be purchased online as a smart card called Opencard.
ADVICE
 Uniformed ticket inspectors can stop you and have the right to check your
tickets.
 Beware of pickpockets .
 Be cautious when you use the escalators.
 Pay attention to on-board announcements which are as follows:
Name of the station where the train is currently stopped
Door-closing warning
Name of the next station
 Strong cold wind occassionally blowing through the stations.
