Authentic Beer Branding
Viven by Tom Rotsaert Receives a Winning Label for the Award-Worthy Drink
Tom Rotsaert is a graphic designer from Belgium, so to
commemorate one of the items his country does best, he put
together the packaging for the award-winning beer brand Viven.
The resulting design is authentic and quite simplistic. For the
Viven glasses, the name of the company runs across the center
in a white blocked font. The background of the label for the
bottles is a slightly aged white color, again making the beer look
authentic as if it's been around for centuries. The font here,
however, is slightly more colorful, with Tom Rotsaert using red,
blue and yellow hues to name a few.
The packaging is not overwhelming, and clearly gets the Viven
name across to people walking past in liquor stores, which is
exactly what the company wants.

KLM's Cover Greetings Surprises Passengers with Personalized Notes
The Cover Greetings campaign surprised airline travelers with
personal messages from their friends and families on the backs
of their headrests. KLM collaborated with Amsterdam Airport
Schipol on the heartwarming project as well as DDB & Tribal
Amsterdam and FHV BBDO.
Recognizing that travelling can be an emotional experience for
passengers whether they are leaving their loved ones or coming
back to them after a trip, KLM arranged to surprise them with
hand-written notes on the back of the headrest in front of them.
So instead of seeing a screen with a welcoming statement or a
blank headrest, they saw encouraging and sentimental notes.
Cover Greetings took place on a recent KLM flight. The travelers'
reactions were recorded and uploaded onto YouTube.

Passionate about coffee, the design studio jumped at the chance

about 33 minutes per day on Facebook, this is one video that

company. McCann Bucharest helped Coke with the idea and
execution of the app, so hopefully it will catch on and locals will
see an increase in the volunteers walking through the door.
Either way for Coke, it positions the company as an entity that

Plume and Compagnie's Chicken Feed Bag is Extremely Chic for a Farm Product
Most people are probably have no idea what a chicken feed bag

Compagnie's. Instead of having a cozy, homespun feel, the

The packaging was developed for Plume and Compagnie by
Brand Union Paris, introducing a new brand mascot that is

Holte Beer is a fictional brand designed by Nathan Holter for a
project. His design is very minimalist, and he just uses simplistic
lettering for the packaging of the beer.
According to Holte, the packaging is also sustainable, which is
clear from the cardboard material used to hold the beer. A large
H has been carved into the front of the package, solidifying the
branding for the beer in a straightforward manner. The beer
bottles themselves are a dark brown color, allowing for the white
font on the front to stand out.
Nathan Holter manages to demonstrate how less is more with
this packaging design. Sometimes excess is just unnecessary

Yanni’s Olive Grove Receives a Simplistic Makeover
Yanni’s Olive Grove is a brand from Greece, and the owner was
looking to expand into a more international market. To help with
this, he worked with graphic designer Christos Tsoleridis to
come up with something that could appeal to people from around
the world.
The designer went with a very minimalist design to achieve this
effect. Considering not everyone speaks English, it's important to
have a simple yet recognizable symbol for a brand. Christos
Tsoleridis did exactly that, and used a few straight lines along
with one curved to form an icon that stood for the Yanni brand. In
the end, Yanni's Olive Grove became ready to hit the
international market, thanks to this branding initiative.
Sometimes, the simple and more straightforward approach is the
most effective compared to too much clutter.

Les Recettes d'Atelier is a new brand of chocolate from Nestle
that focuses on the artisan qualities of the treat. As such, the
brand needed packaging to match this high-quality approach and
flavor, so the team hired CBA Designs to execute the project.
The packaging focuses mainly on the contents underneath,
showing pictures of nuts and ingredients that go into making the
chocolate. This creates an effect where potential buyers want to
taste what's represented on the outside (which is the main goal
of this branding). In fact, the packaging looks just as tasty as the
main product, but I would not recommend sinking one's teeth
into the paper.
Overall Les Recettes d'Atelier exudes an artisanal look for
branding as well as taste.

This Charming Wine Packaging Design is Perfect for Lazy Summer Picnics
Cheaper wines always tend to have equally cheap designs, but
that doesn't need to be the case as this whimsical and provincial
wine packaging design proves.
The De Mesa Wine is a table wine that channels lazy days in
overgrown maze fields with a picnic basket full of Brie cheese
and French baguette bread and a loved one on a Sunday
afternoon. That is the whole point of good branding and
packaging: it creates a story to every customer, in the case of
De Mesa Wine, it's a European picnic on a warm summer day.
Taking a super simple and minimalist approach when it came to
the wine packaging design, Spanish design agency Grantipo
Branding & Packaging did a beautiful job creating a dreamy
visual identity using a limited color palette.

This NBA Mother’s Day Ad Stars 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant and His Mother
This NBA Mother’s Day ad borrows from Oklahoma City
Thunder star Kevin Durant’s now-famous speech after being
awarded the NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Durant,
who deservedly took home the MVP award for his stellar
season, declared in a heartwarming and emotionally charged
speech that his mother Wanda Pratt was "the real MVP."
The ad, which is entirely black-and-white, begins with Pratt
standing in attendance at an Oklahoma City Thunder game and
raising her hand—ostensibly in anticipation of a play by Durant.
She then pumps her fist and exults, while the scene on the
basketball court itself is left to the imagination of the viewer.
The scene is accompanied by an audio clip from Durant’s MVP
speech, in which he says, “[T]he only one that really believed in
me, that I could do it—from day one—was my mom.”
The NBA Mother’s Day ad then concludes with a short clip of
Durant gazing upwards.

TGI Fridays UK found that nearly half of the adults in the UK
have never shared a kiss under the mistletoe and decided to
remedy this in the spirit of "#Togethermas."
The #Togethermas campaign is all about inspiring people to
come together over the holiday season and to do this, TGI
Fridays brought a drone carrying mistletoe into its restaurant.
The drone was also equipped with a kiss cam to capture all of
those spontaneous smooches. If you're dining at TDI Fridays this
holiday season, you might want to keep an eye out for this
romance-inducing drone.
Although the use of drones equipped with mistletoe and cameras
isn't a totally original idea, the way it is worked into a commercial
holiday campaign for this restaurant chain is heartwarming and
fun.

Estratégia + Design' with a concept that emphasizes the
question “Do you like it or love it?".
The intended response is suppose to be “I love Coca-Cola
Light!” as a heartwarming reaction from the public. The package
contains a large red heart with the traditional silver background.
This heart makes a great impression for consumers as it may
apply to their lifestyle with the product itself. The Coca Cola Light
Brazil campaign strives to retain consumers once again in a
positive and sweet way.

Naturalistic Olive Oil Packaging
Zoo Studio Designs the Branding for Rocarell
Rocarell is an olive oil brand based in Spain, and Zoo Studio
recently updated the company's packaging design. The team
went with a natural look for the label, in an attempt to exude the
organic nature of the product, as well as the soil where the
original trees grow.
As such the label has a darker background, however the main
image that consumers see looks like the soil where the product
originally came from. This darker look helps to give the olive oil
brand a sense of mystery, which helps for alluring certain
customers. Zoo Studio did a great job with using a clean,
minimalist font too, making it stand out on the shelves in many
stores.

'Dear Mum' is a campaign for the Canadian Tourism
Commission that's set up like an adult child sending a note to
their mother, keeping her informed of all their latest adventures.
Just as kids tend to do, the letter stretches the truth a little bit to
make mom feel more comforted, such as where the description
of "seeing lots of wildlife" really means partying with crazy
people wearing animal masks and animal print.
The campaign by DDB Canada encourages youth to 'Keep
Exploring' and in the process, the visual letter shows off some of
Canada's most beautiful landscapes as well as a ton of fun
things to do in the country for people with a variety of interests,
from foodies to adventure-seekers.

Haute Hawaiian Packaging
The Royal Kona Coffee Packaging Highlights the Coffee Bean's Origins
Jennifer Jennings, a design student at the University of North
Texas, created clever packaging for the fictional coffee company
Royal Kona Coffee. Jennings placed her focus on the heritage of
the specialized Kona coffee bean that only makes up 1% of the
coffee grown the world over. She looked to the rich history and
traditions that surrounded the Kona coffee growers for
inspiration, choosing a lively palette inspired by native Hawaiian
textiles.
Jennings paid particular attention to the highly decorative feather
cloaks referred to as ahu'ula. These lush garments were crafted
for the ali'i', the Hawaiian equivalent to royalty. Known for their
bold and colorful patterns, Jennings selected the ahu'ula
patterns to decorate the front flaps of the Royal Kona Coffee
bags, the remainder of the bag was informed by the striking
patterns found on more pedestrian Hawaiian textiles called
kappa. To cap off the experience, each bag is accompanied with
its own piece of Hawaiian trivia or phrase.

Coke's Small World Machines Campaign Unites Rival Soccer Fans
Coke's Small World Machines campaign gained worldwide
renown and acclaim for using vending machines to bring rival
nations together. Now, the beverage giant's latest iteration of
Small World Machines explores and tackles a different but
equally widespread kind of enmity -- the soccer rivalry.
The campaign aimed to soothe tensions between the Italian city
of Milan's two giant soccer teams, AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Coca Cola installed vending machines on opposite sides of
Milan's San Siro stadium, which is shared by the two rival teams.
However, the machine was programmed in such a way that
pressing the button of one machine dropped a Coke can down
the chute of the machine placed on the rival team's side of the
stadium. This way, rivals could only receive Coke cans from
each other.

most tea comes in larger packages, this would be ideal for

the substance that often. The branding is also quite feminine,
with lighter colors as the main hues and leaf designs throughout.

The UNELEFANTE Toffee Box Has Colorful String Heart Detailing

The milk bottle design that's used to package Sarda Farms' milk
plays up nostalgia and a return to simpler times.
Sarda Farms is run out of 10 acres of farm land in Nashik, India
and in developing the dariy product packaging, the Alok Nanda &
Company wanted consumers to be able to feel like they are
taking home a piece of the family farm. The vintage-style bottle
is paired with a crisp, modern font and a few colorful details on
the tops of the caps to differentiate one type of milk from
another.
The front of the bottles barely has any text on it besides the logo
presenting the family's name, which lets the pure and authentic
product shine without having to compete against flashy
packaging.

Scrolled Lumber Branding
Ugmonk 4th Anniversary Packaging Has a Well-Rounded Natural Appeal
Generations ago, goods used to be wrapped up in materials and
canisters that consumers would routinely use over and over
again. Some products have retained this repurposable feature in
the meantime, but it's otherwise quite recent for concepts like
Ugmonk 4th Anniversary packaging to crop up.
Great care went into crafting the fine sheets of birch wood that
make up the T-shirt holers. The flexible timber is furled into a
cylinder and given a circular top and bottom. The container
opens by unraveling a belt-like cord around a toggle and
unrolling the curled panel. Jeff Sheldon's design for Ugmonk 4th
Anniversary packaging is engraved with a crisp number 4 and
branded with the item's name, yet one can see the charm of
holding onto such a beautiful box and reusing it for other objects.

Ait Putih is a Fictional Brand by Wiko Williams
Air Putih is a fictional water branding project by Wiko Williams
from Indonesia. According to the artist, his goal is to "want to
make people love fresh water so much, and never pay for a soft
drink anymore."
To achieve this quite hefty goal, Williams went for an extremely
minimalist for the branding look. The bottles look like milk
cartons, and come in a simple white and blue color. Everything
about the package screams "fresh" due to its straightforward
nature. There aren't an excessive amount of illustrations, but just
the brand name on the side and an illustration of a droplet of
water on the very front.
Just looking at this water branding makes me thirsty, which
means Williams has done an effective job.

This Coca Cola Happiness Campaign Requires Two to Open a Coke
Coca-Cola happiness campaigns usually involve very simple
actions that are interjected into situations in daily life that could
use a little lift. In this case, the 'Friendly Twist' was introduced to
a campus on the first day of school, where most students
seemed to be interested in their smartphones than making
friends.
Coca-Cola set up a fridge filled with Cokes, but there was a
catch—the Coca-Cola bottles were designed with a "twist" and
they are pretty much impossible to open on their own. Instead,
two caps are designed to interlock and when you find another
friend with an unopened bottle, the two of you can work together
to twist them open. The action is small but it's a great way to
conjure up some smiles and help people break the ice.

Rustic Rum Branding
Original Bacardi Rum Packaging Goes Back to Its Simple Cuban Roots
'Original Bacardi' rum is a new drink from Bacardi that revisits its
Cuban roots. The Bacardi drink comes packaged in a simple oak
crate, which contains a dark glass bottle filled with rum and
mason jar glasses for serving. On the outside of the box is the
brand's iconic bat logo, as well as roughly stenciled text that
reads "Ron Especial" and "Santiago de Cuba," denoting that this
is a special rum that comes from Santiago, Cuba.
The packaging developed by Sam Lane Design helps to revive
an era that has long since passed through authentic, low-key
materials that are a little rough around the edges. To compliment
the packaging, several ads were also created, branding the new
Bacardi Original as "Heritage in a bottle."

BBROOD Packaging Leaves Over-Designed Competitors Out to Dry
A great shift is occurring in the world of packaging in which
designers are starting to simplify the brand identities of products.
BBROOD packaging embodies the lovely clarity that likely arose
from the rejection of the increasingly chaotic appearances of
food wrappers.
Working with Bureau Stoer, Iconic Design devised a very
minimalist approach to containing and displaying a line of
cookies and crackers for the Amsterdam bakery. Clear plastic
pouches were chosen to hold neat stacks and clusters of the
scrumptious snacks, labeled quite delicately by pieces of paper
that have been creased over the their tops. The most endearing
aspect of BBROOD packaging is definitely the little wooden
clothespins that pinch the cards in place, delivering the
impression that the delicious goods have the comforting quality
of homemade treats.

Emil S Goes for a Wooden Look for Clipper Tea
This new design for clipper tea exudes an extremely industrial
feel. Designed by Emil S of Finland, the work was done for a
school project, and he was looking to reinvent the branded
image of the product.
According to Emil, he "chose Clipper tea, because of it’s organic
nature, and redesigned their packaging to be a gift product, while
still maintaining the brands humble image." The humble look is
certainly maintained through the simplistic wood that's used, but
considering most tea comes in either paper, plastic or metal
containers, the material helps to set this item apart. For the font
and details on the top, Emil also kept things simple, going for a
black, white and green design that exudes the tea's organic
elements.

Ajá's Jam Jar Branding References Carefully Made Handicrafts
The Ajá jam jar branding devised by Monograma communicates
the story of a Columbian grandmother who developed a booming
business from her delicious homemade jams. As well as being
very talented at making food, "Mama," as she is known by
friends and family, also spends her time on crafts like crossstitching. This was a huge part of developing the identity for the
brand, delivering a subtle message about the care that's put into
crafting the jams.
Each of the jam jars features a cross-stitched fruit on its front,
making it very clear whether the Ajá jam is a pineapple or
strawberry flavor.
The cross-stitch theme is also carried though as an important
detail on business cards and other company documents with tiny
"X" shapes and dashes, which simulate thread on a page.

Going for contemporary colors and clean lines, the just launched
The Freehouse restaurant and brewpub has an appealing and
contemporary brand identity.
Part of Minneapolis's Blue Plate Restaurant Company, The
Freehouse is its latest venture and the brand wanted to go for
something completely different. That's why the team brought on
design and branding firm Bolster to help develop and create a
contemporary brand identity and overall experience for the
restaurant and brewpub.
Deciding to take an old-fashioned and nostalgically American
approach to the branding, Bolster were able to get the balance
just right between old handcrafted American aesthetic and a
modern vibe.
The Freehouse is located in a pre-prohibition, turn-of-the-century
warehouse, which gives the place an authentic early
industrialization look. The artistry touch of the architecture mixed
with the modern and utilitarian design help give the place the
perfect contemporary brand identity.

Alluring Earthy Branding
The Ignios Or'genes Wine Label Expresses its Identity with Texture
Playing on bold physical volcanic nature, interesting mineral
terrains and the rich grape variety, the new Ignios Orígenes wine
label gets its alluring branding and identity from nature.
Created by Spanish designer Dailos Pérez, the beautifully
designed wine label is inspired by the nature of the lands that
surround the vineyard: dark volcanic soot and oddly colored and
shaped minerals. Using only minimalist colors, and using them
starkly at that, the designer was able to give this wine label a
monochromatic and contemporary look.
“Ignios Orígenes is a new project that adds value to the grape
varieties most deeply rooted in the Canary Islands, specifically
on the island of Tenerife. Volcanic nature, mineral lands and a
very special climate defines the marked character of these
artisan wines,” says Pérez on the project's site.

This Disney Commercial Features Several Home Videos
This Disney commercial truly captures the magic of a child's joy.
The ad is a compilation of home video style clips from several
different families at the moment they tell their kids they are going
to Disney Land in Paris.
One family tapes gift wrapping paper to the wall and tears it off
to reveal the message "We're going to Disney Land." As the kids
read the message, the excitement sets in and they start
screaming. The commercial flips from one family to the next and

This commercial is perfect for Disney Land because it truly
captures the energy of children, which is what the theme park
and Disney brand is all about. This ad also effectively presents

This Minimalist Design Identity is Clean and Stylish
It really can’t get simpler and cleaner than this when it comes to
minimalist design branding for a product or a brand.
Using only graphic black text on stark white packaging—and
some round black circles—this new Chicago-based coffee bar is
choosing to keep things simple with their minimalist design
identity and let their java and treats to all the talking for them.
Simple doesn’t mean boring or traditional as this branding
shows. It’s stylish, clean and visually exciting. Designed by
Argentinian-based design agency Empatía, the whole image was
designed to be strong, seductive and classically elegant. The
design agency believes in simplicity and clean-structured
designs; to them, simply expressing a simple business idea is
the most creative way of all.

Nature-Inspired Brush Branding
Meadow Land Exudes a Naturalistic Aesthetic
Meadow Land by Vladimir Kolpakov takes inspiration from
nature. The brand sells high-end art brushes, which are made
from animal hair.
This animal-based nature of the materials of the brushes are
seen with the designs on the packaging. Racoons are one
dominant theme throughout, placed against a white background
and done in a water color-like manner. This packaging was done
as a student project for Vladimir Kolpakov, who won an award
for this design in an international student competition. One can
see why: the designs are quite minimalist so as not to take away
from the product itself, yet are still memorable and artistic.
Meadow Land exudes a high-class quality, thanks to the artistic
packaging design by Vladimir Kolpakov, a student who resides
in Russia.

Modernized Heritage Beer Branding
Nordlands Receives a Makeover from Strømme Throndsen Design
Nordlands is part of the Carlsberg brand of beer, and has been
around since the 19th century. However, since this alcohol has
been around for such an extended period of time, the packaging
had become quite outdated. Strømme Throndsen Design was
hired to fix this roadblock, and the team managed to achieve this
goal in a very subtle manner.
Much of the original design remains, but the contrast for the boat
centered on the can and the package has been increased to help
it pop more. The lettering has also been redrawn to give it a
modern look. Overall the changes are very small with this
branding design, but sometimes that's all one needs to keep a
sense of authenticity, while connecting with a contemporary
audience.

Inspirational Makeup-Removing Ads
Dermablend's 'Camo Confession' Proves Beauty is on the Inside
Dermablend's inspirational new ad 'Camo Confession' lets
famous women reveal their natural looks. After releasing its
latest ad for corrective cosmetics, Dermablend did something
that most makeup brands would never dare to do: create an ad
that relates to women all over the world in a genuine way.
The series features Cassandra Bankson, a model and YouTube
star who suffered from acne for most of her life, and Cheri
Lindsay, a volleyball coach who has a skin pigmentation
condition. The video starts off with the kind of look you'd see
them have in the media but when the intro ends the women take
a cloth and start wiping off their makeup. As their true skin is
shown, they begin to tell the story of the bullying they faced
growing up and how they overcame it.
Camo Confession is so inspiring to women. It shows them that
this idea of perfection the media portrays is nothing but a fairy
tale, and that they should appreciate their true selves. This ad is
such a beautiful concept and one can only hope its impact will
spread.

Elegant Jam Jar Branding
Holy Belle Moonshine Packaging Has a Lovely Crafted Quality About it
With Holy Belle Moonshine packaging, the notion of illicitly
distilled whiskey is given a touch of feminine charm. The jam jars
maintain that under-the-table idea, yet they would
simultaneously look quite fitting in a mother's kitchen.
Joyce Russell's task was to create a branding and bottling
strategy for North Georgia's Holy Mountain Distillery. The aim
was to suggest the product's artisan nature and to shroud it in a
sense of mystery. The first goal was accomplished beautifully
with the choice of common mason jars and the incorporation of
handwritten text on the label. The second was achieve with the
the use of dark ink and the inclusion of a little black book of
cocktail recipes. Holy Belle Moonshine packaging is finished off
fetchingly in a little wooden box with country-style straw padding.
