What is Fall Prevention?

have an effective program.

Over 50 active partners from government
agencies, non-profit organizations, college
districts, medical and therapy practices,
residential facilities, and businesses
Working under a grant from the Archstone
Foundation

5 Primary Goals



Goal I: To increase in size and diversity
and become a recognized entity in the
community.
Goal II: To become a “household brand”
for fall prevention programs, services, and
resources.
Goal III: To become a comprehensive
clearinghouse for fall prevention
knowledge and resources.


Goal IV: To increase awareness and
knowledge of strategies to lower the risk
of falls.
Goal V: To advocate for changes to the
built environment to lower the risk of falls
in Orange County.
Major Activities




Maintain and increase active coalition
membership.
Establish regular meeting times and institute
working subcommittees.
Seek out, research, and apply for funding
opportunities.
Develop and maintain a database of fall
prevention resources.

Purpose
Develop a packet of older adult “friendly”
fall prevention information that can be
distributed to persons at risk of falling in
Orange County.

 Talk to your doctor about your balance
and falls

 Engage in regular balance and strength
