Coleg Gwent
Improvement Journey
Background
Follows from a question at the last Board meeting
Many new members, at a difficult time, with more to come
Need to stay positive and optimistic
Every part of the college is covered by the CMT’s Divisions
but there are also background developments which won’t be explicit in:
Culture - a switch in balance between support and challenge:
• greater stretch and challenge
• higher expectations
• more overt performance management
• but with better support at the same time
Structures and systems – flatter, less campus autonomy, greater central control
Values and Relationships - openness, honesty, rigour, involvement
Our external focus – contribution to and leadership in the sector – Colegau Cymru
Finance, Curriculum, Quality, and Resources, WfAs, ACL, Partnerships etc..
Governance – more strategic, challenging and skills-based
