In the name of Alláh the
Beneficent, the Merciful.
èkáäÇádâÆ ãÁB áÑ èkáäÇádâÆ ÔÃá®
ãäÄá{ áäÈâÏäÃÂáB
O Alláh send Your blessings on
Mu<ammad
and the family of Mu<ammad.
ãADáqá`åÂB Ø㶠âSá²åoáÖ áÙ åÌáÆ
CáÖ áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, O He who desires no
repayment!
ãAEá§á¯åÂB ÔáÃá® âÅákåËáÖ áÙ åÌáÆ
CáÖ áÑ
O He who shows no remorse at
bestowal!
ãADáÒáätÂB ÔáÃá® âÍákåRá®
âOã¶Cá¿âÖ áÙ åÌáÆ CáÖ áÑ
O He who rewards not His servant
tit for tat!
çADákãXåQB áÀâXáäËãÆ
Your kindness is a new beginning,
çÄâä£á·áW á½âÒå·á® áÑ
Your pardon gratuitous bounty,
çÁåká® áÀâXáQÒâ»â® áÑ
Your punishment justice,
çTáoá×ãg á½âJEá£áº áÑ
Your decree a choice for the best!
èäÌáÇãQ á½áAEá§á® åSâxáW åÈáÂ
áYå×á§å®áF åÉãH
If You bestow, You stain not Your
bestowal with obligation,
CæÖãäká¯áW áÀâ¯åËáÆ åÌâ¿áÖ åÈáÂ
áYå¯ËáÆ åÉãH áÑ
and if You withhold, You withhold
not in transgression.
á½áoå¿âw âÐáXåÇáÏåÂáF áYåÊáF áÑ
á½áoá¿w åÌáÆ âoâ¿åxáW
You show gratitude to him who
thanks, while You have inspired
him to thank You.
á½ákåÇác âÐáXåÇáäÃá® áYåÊáF áÑ
á½ákãÇác åÌáÆ âOã¶Cá¿âW áÑ
You reward him who praises You,
though You have taught him Your
praise.
âÐáXådá£á¶ áYåNãw åÒá åÌáÆ ÔáÃá®
âoâXåtáW áÑ
You cover him whom, if You willed,
You would expose,
âÐáXå¯áËáÆ áYåNãw åÒá åÌáÆ
ÔáÃá® âjÒâ`áW áÑ
and You are generous toward him
from whom, if You willed, You
would withhold.
ã°åËáÇåÂBáÑ ãUád×ã£á·åÃã áÀåËãÆ
çÄåÎáF EáÇâÎáÚã¾ áÑ
Both are worthy of Your exposure
and withholding,
ãÄâä£á·áäXÂB ÔáÃá® áÀáÂCá¯á¶áF
áYå×áËáQ áÀáäÊáF áoå×á²
but You have founded Your acts
upon gratuitous bounty,
ãpÑCá`áäXÂB ÔáÃá® áÀáWánåkâº
áYåÖáoå_áF áÑ
channelled Your power into
forbearance,
ãÈåÃãdåÂCãQ á½Cá|á® åÌáÆ
áYå×áä»áÃáW áÑ
received him who disobeyed You
with clemency,
ãÈåÃâä«ÂCãQ ãÐãtå·áËã áká|ẠåÌáÆ
áYåÃáÏåÆáF áÑ
and disregarded him who intended
wrongdoing against himself.
ãUáQCáÊãåßB ÔáÂãH áÀãWCáÊáGãQ
åÈâÎâoã«åËáXtáW
You await their turning back
without haste
ãUáQåÒáäXÂB ÔáÂãH
åÈâÏáXáÃá_Cá¯âÆ â½âoåXáWÑ
and refrain from rushing them
toward repentance,
åÈâÏâ¿ãÂCáÎ áÀå×áÃá® áÀãÃåÏáÖ
áÚå×á¿ãÂ
so that the perisher among them
may not perish, because of You
åÈâÏâä×ã»áw áÀãXáÇå¯ãËãQ Ôá»åxáÖ áÙ
áÑ
and the wretched may not be
wretched through Your favour,
ãÐå×áÂãH ãnBámå®ãåßB ãÁÒ⦠åÌá®
áäÙãH
but only after Your prolonged
excusing him,
ãÐå×áÃá® ãUáä`âdåÂB ãµâjBáoáW
ákå¯áQ áÑ
and successive arguments against
him,
âÈÖãoá¾ CáÖ á½ãÒå·á® ÌãÆ
CæÆáoá¾
as an act of generosity through
Your pardon, O Generous,
âÈ×ãÃác CáÖ áÀã·å§á® åÌãÆ
æTákãMEá® áÑ
and an act of kindliness through
Your tenderness, O Clement!
áUáQåÒáäXÂB âÐáXå×áäÇásáÑ á½ãÒå·á®
ÔáÂãH EæQCáQ á½ãjCáRã¯ã áYådáXá¶
ÕãmáäÂB áYåÊáF
It is You who have opened for Your servants
a door to Your pardon, which You have
named ‘repentance’.
áBÒâäÃã£áÖ áÚáNã áÀã×åcáÑ åÌãÆ æÚ×ãÂáj
ãPCáRåÂB áÀãÂál ÔáÃá® áYåÃá¯á_ áÑ
áÀâÇåsB ½ánCáRáW áYåÃâ»á¶ âÐåËá®
You have placed upon that door a pointer
from Your revelation, lest they stray from
it:
You have said (blessed are Your
names),
áoãä·á¿âÖ åÉáF åÈâ¿âäQán Ôátá® CæcÒâ|áÊ
æUáQåÒáW ãÐáäÃÂB ÔáÂãH DáÒâQÒâW
åÈâ¿ãWCáNãä×ás åÈâ¿åËá®
Repent toward God with unswerving
repentance! It may be that Your Lord will
acquit of your evil deeds
ânCáÏåÊáÛBB CáÏãXådáW åÌãÆ
Õãoå`áW èVCáäËá_ åÈâ¿áÃãgåkâÖáÑ
and will admit you into gardens
beneath which rivers flow,
âÐá¯áÆ BÒâËáÆD áÌÖãmáäÂB áÑ
áäØãRáäËÂB âÐáäÃÂB ÕãqåhâÖ áÙ
áÅåÒáÖ
upon the day when God will not
degrade the Prophet and those
åÈãÏãÊCáÇåÖáGãQáÑ âÈãÏÖãkåÖáF
áÌå×áQ Ôá¯åtáÖ åÈâÎânÒâÊ
their light running before them and
on their right hands,
EáËá åoã·å²BáÑ CáÊánÒâÊ CáËáÂ
åÈãÇåWáF EáËáäQán áÉÒâÂÒâ»áÖ
and they say: ‘Our Lord, complete
for us our light, and forgive us!
çoÖãkẠèAØáw ãäÄâ¾ ÔáÃá® áÀáäÊãH
Surely You art powerful over
everything.’ (66:8)
ãÁãqåËáÇåÂB áÀãÂál áÁÒâgâj áÄá·å²áF
åÌáÆ ânåmâ® CáÇá¶
What is the excuse of him who
remains heedless of entering that
house
?ãÄ×ãÂáäkÂB ãUáÆCáºãH áÑ
ãPCáRåÂB ãeåXᶠákå¯áQ
after the opening of the door and
the setting up of the pointer?
á½ãjCáRã¯ã áÀãtå·áÊ ÔáÃá® ãÅåÒáätÂB
Ø㶠áVåjãp ÕãmáäÂB áYåÊáF áÑ
It is You who have raised the price
against Yourself to the advantage of
Your servants,
áÀá åÈÏãWáoá_CáXâÆ Øã¶
åÈâÏádåQãn âkÖãoâW
desiring their profit in their trade
with You,
áÀåËãÆ ãTájCáÖãäqÂBáÑ áÀå×áÃá®
ãTájCá¶ãÒåÂCãQ åÈâÎápåÒᶠáÑ
their triumph through reaching
You,
and their increase on account of
áYå×áÂCá¯áW áÑ áÀâÇåsB á½ánCáRáW
áYåÃâ»á¶
for You have said (blessed is Your
Name and high are You exalted),
CáÏãÂCá\åÆáF âoåxá® âÐáÃá¶
ãUáËátádåÂCãQ áAEá_ åÌáÆ
Whoso brings a good deed shall
have ten the like of it,
CáÏáÃå\ãÆ áÙãH Óáqå`âÖ áÚá¶
ãUáNãä×áätÂCãQ áAEá_ åÌáÆáÑ
and whoso brings an evil deed
shall only be recompensed the
like of it . (6:160)
ãÐáäÃÂB ãÄ×ãRás Ø㶠åÈâÏáÂBáÒåÆáF
áÉÒâ»ã·åËâÖ áÌÖãmáäÂB âÄá\áÆ YåÃ⺠áÑ
áÄãQCáËás á°åRás åYáXáRåÊáF èUáäRác
ãÄá\áÇá¾
You have said, ‘The likeness of those who
expend their wealth in the way of God is
as the likeness of a grain of corn that
sprouts seven ears,
âAEáxáÖ åÌáÇã â¸ã®Cá£âÖ âÐáäÃÂB áÑ
èUáäRác âUáMCãÆ èUáÃâRåËâs ãäÄâ¾
Øã¶
in every ear a hundred grains; so God
multiplies unto whom He wills.’
(2:261)
CæËátác Cæ¢åoẠáÐáäÃÂB â¡ãoå»âÖ ÕãmáäÂB
Bál åÌáÆ YåÃâºáÑ
?æTáo×ã\á¾ Cæ¶Cá¯å¢áF âÐá âÐá·ã®Cá£â×á¶
You have said, ‘Who is he that will lend to
God a good loan, and He will multiply it
for him manifold?’ (2:245)
ã¸×ã®Cá£áW åÌãÆ ãÉDåoâ»åÂB Øã¶
áäÌãÎãoãMEá«áÊ ÌãÆ áYåÂáqåÊáF EáÆ áÑ
ãVCáËátádåÂB
And You have sent down in the Qur’án
similar verses on the multiplying of
good deeds.
áÀãRå×á² åÌãÆ áÀãÂåÒá»ãQ
åÈâÏáXåÃáÂáj ÕãmáäÂB áYåÊáF áÑ
It is You who have pointed them
through Your speech from Your
Unseen
åÈâÏåËá® âÐáWåoáXás åÒá CáÆ ÔáÃá®
åÈâÏâä«ác ãÐ×㶠ÕãmáäÂB áÀãR×ã²åoáW áÑ
and Your encouragement in which lies their
good fortune toward that which
- had You covered it from them -
åÈâÎânCá|åQáF âÐå¾ãnåkâW åÈáÂ
their eyes would not have
perceived,
åÈâÏâ®CáÇåsáF ãÐã¯áW åÈá áÑ
their ears would not have heard,
åÈâÏâÆCáÎåÑáF âÐå»ádåÃáW åÈá áÑ
and their imaginations would not
have grasped,
ãÉÑâoâ·å¿áW áÙ áÑ Øã BÑâoâ¿åwB áÑ
åÈâ¾åoâ¾åláF ØãÊÑâoâ¾ålB áYåÃâ»á¶
for You have said, ‘Remember Me and I will
remember you, be thankful to Me, and be
you not thankless towards Me!’ (2:152)
åÈâWåoá·á¾ åÌãNáÂáÑ åÈâ¿áäÊákÖãpáÙ
åÈâWåoá¿áw åÌãNá áYåÃâºáÑ
çkÖãkáxá ØãQBámá® áäÉãH
You have said, ‘If you are thankful, surely I
will increase you, but if you are thankless,
My chastisement is surely terrible.’ (14:7)
åÈâ¿á åSã`áXåsáF ØãÊÒâ®åjB áYåÃ⺠áÑ
And You have said, ‘Supplicate Me and
I will respond to you,
áÈáäËáÏá_ áÉÒâÃâgåká×ás ØãWájCáRã® åÌá®
áÉÑâoãRå¿áXåtáÖ áÌÖãmáäÂB áäÉãH
áÌÖãoãgBáj
surely those who wax too proud to
worship Me
shall enter Jahannam utterly abject .’
BænCáRå¿ãXåsB âÐá¾åoáW áÑ
æTájCáRã® á½áAEá®âj áYå×áäÇátá¶
Hence You have named
supplicating You ‘worship’ and
refraining from it ‘waxing proud’,
áÌÖãoãgBáj áÈáäËáÏá_ áÁÒâgâj ãÐã¾åoáW
ÔáÃá® áVåkáä®áÒáW áÑ
and You have threatened that the
refraining from it would yield
entrance into Jahannam in utter
abjection.
áÀãäËáÇãQ á½Ñâoá¾ámá¶
So they remember You for Your
kindness,
áÀãÃå£á·ãQ á½Ñâoá¿áw áÑ
they thank You for Your bounty,
á½ãoåÆáGãQ á½åÒá®áj áÑ
they supplicate You by Your
command,
á½ãkÖãqáÇã CæRáÃᦠáÀáÂ
BÒâºáäká|áW áÑ
and they donate for You in order to
seek Your increase;
áÀãRá£á² åÌãÆ åÈâÏâWCá`áÊ åYáÊCá¾
CáÏ×㶠áÑ
á½Cá¢ãoãQ åÈâÎâpåÒᶠáÑ
in all this lies their deliverance from
Your wrath
and their triumph through Your good
pleasure.
áÕãmáäÂB ãÄå\ãÆ ÔáÃá® ãÐãtå·áÊ åÌãÆ
CæºÒâÃåháÆ ç¹ÒâÃåháÆ áäÁáj åÒá áÑ
áÀåËãÆ ½ájCáRã® ãÐå×áÃá® áYåÃáÂáj
Were any creature himself to direct
another creature to the like of that to
which You Yourself have directed
Your servants,
ãÉCáËãXåÆãÙCãQ CæWÒâ¯åËáÆ áÑ
ãÉCátåcãåßCãQ Cæ¶Òâ{åÒáÆ áÉCá¾
èÉCátã ãäÄâ¿ãQ BæjÒâÇådáÆ áÑ
he would be described by beneficence,
qualified by kindness, and praised by
every tongue.
çSáÎåmáÆ á½ãkåÇác Ø㶠ákã_âÑ CáÆ
âkåÇádåÂB áÀáÃá¶
So to You belongs praise as long
as there is found a way to praise
You,
ãÐå×áÂãH âµãoá|åËáÖ ÔæËå¯áÆ áÑ ãÐãQ
âkáÇådâW ç¬å·á ãkåÇádåÃã Øã»áQ CáÆ áÑ
and as long as there remains for praising
words by which You may be praised and
meanings which may be spent in praise!
ãÄå£á·åÂB áÑ ãÉCátåcãåßCãQ ãÍãjCáRã®
ÔáÂãH ákáäÇádáW åÌáÆ CáÖ
O He who shows Himself praiseworthy
to His servants through beneficence
and bounty,
ãÁåÒáä§ÂB áÑ ãäÌáÇåÂCãQ åÈâÎáoáÇá²
áÑ
flooding them with kindness and
graciousness!
áÀáXáÇå¯ãÊ CáË×㶠Ôáxå¶áF EáÆ
How much of Your favour has been
spread about among us,
áÀáXáäËãÆ CáËå×áÃá® á´áRåsáFáÑ
Your kindness lavished upon us,
?á½ãäoãRãQ CáËáä|ágáF áÑ
and Your goodness singled out for
us?
áYå×á·á§å{B ÕãmáäÂB áÀãËÖãkãÂ
CáËáXåÖákáÎ
You have guided us to Your
religion which You have chosen,
áYå×á£áWånB Ø~ãXáäÂB áÀãXáäÃãÆ áÑ
Your creed with which You are
pleased,
áYåÃáäÏás ÕãmáäÂB áÀãÃ×ãRás áÑ
and Your path which You have
made smooth,
áÀãXáÆBáoá¾ ÔáÂãH áÁÒâ{âÒåÂB áÑ
áÀåÖáká áUá·åÂâäqÂB CáËáWåoáä|áQ áÑ
and You have shown us proximity to
You and arrival at Your generosity!
ãã¸ãMEáªáÒåÂB áÀåÃãW CáÖCá·á{ åÌãÆ
áYåÃá¯á_ áYåÊáF áÑ áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, among the choicest of those
duties
¡Ñâoâ·åÂB áÀåÃãW ã}ãMEá|ág áÑ
and the most special of those
obligations
ãnÒâÏâäxÂB ãoãMEás åÌãÆ âÐáXå|á|áXågB
ÕãmáäÂB áÉCá£áÆán áoåÏáw
You have appointed the month of
Ramadan,
which You have singled out from
other months,
ãnÒâÎâäkÂBáÑ ãUáËãÆåpáÛBB ã°×ãÇá_
åÌãÆ âÐáWåoáä×áháW áÑ
chosen from among all periods
and eras,
CáÇãQ ãUáËáätÂB ãVCáºåÑáF ãäÄâ¾ ÔáÃá®
âÐáWåoá[D áÑ
ãnÒâäËÂBáÑ ãÉDåoâ»åÂB áÌãÆ ãÐ×ã¶
áYåÂáqåÊáF
and preferred over all times of the year
through the Qur’án and the Light
ãÉCáÇÖãåßB áÌãÆ ãÐ×㶠áYå·á®CᢠáÑ
the faith which You multiplied by
means of it,
ãÅCá×ãä|ÂB áÌãÆ ãÐ×㶠áYå¢áoᶠáÑ
the fasting which You obligated
therein,
ãÅCá×ã»åÂB áÌãÆ ãÐ×㶠áYåRáä²án áÑ
the standing in prayer which You
encouraged at its time,
ãnåká»åÂB ãUáÃå×á åÌãÆ ãÐ×ã¶
áYåÃáÃå_áF áÑ
and the Night of Decree which You
magnified therein,
èoåÏáw ã¸åÂáF åÌãÆ çoå×ág áØãÎ
Ø~ãXáäÂB
the night which is better than a
thousand months. (97:3)
ãÈáÆâåÛB ãoãMEás ÔáÃá® ãÐãQ
CáËáWåoá[D áäÈâ[
Through it You have preferred us over
the other communities
ãÄáÃãÇåÂB ãÄåÎáF áÉÑâj ãÐãÃå£á·ãQ
CáËáXå×á·á§å{B áÑ
and through its excellence You
have chosen us to the exclusion
of the people of the creeds.
âÍánCáÏáÊ á½ãoåÆáGãQ CáËåÇâ|á¶
We fasted by Your command in its
daylight,
âÐáÃå×á áÀãÊåÒá¯ãQ CáËåÇ⺠áÑ
we stood in prayer with Your help
in its night,
áÀãXáÇåcán åÌãÆ âÐá CáËáXå¢áäoá®
CáÇã ãÐãÆCá×ãºáÑ ãÐãÆCá×ã|ãQ
áÌ×ã¢ãäoá¯áXâÆ
presenting ourselves by its fasting and
its standing to the mercy which You
have held up before us,
áÀãXáQåÒâ\áÆ åÌãÆ ãÐå×áÂãH EáËåRáäRátáW
áÑ
and we found through it the means to Your
reward.
áÀå×áÂãH ãÐ×㶠áSã²ân CáÇãQ
âAØãÃáÇåÂB áYåÊáF áÑ
And You are full of what is sought
from You,
áÀãÃå£á¶ åÌãÆ áYåÃãNâs CáÇãQ âjBáÒá`åÂB
Munificent with what is asked of Your
bounty,
áÀáQåo⺠áÁáÑCác åÌáÆ ÔáÂãH âSÖãoá»åÂB
and near to him who strives for Your
nearness.
èkåÇác áÅCá»áÆ âoåÏáäxÂB BámáÎ CáË×ã¶
áÅCáºáF åkẠáÑ
This month stood among us in a
standing place of praise,
ènÑâoåRáÆ áUáRådâ{ CáËáRãdá{ áÑ
accompanied us with the
companionship of one approved,
áÌ×ãÇáÂCá¯åÂB ãbCáQånáF áÄá£å¶áF
EáËádáQånáF áÑ
and profited us with the most
excellent profit of the world’s
creatures.
ãÐãWáäkâÆ ãCá§ã»åÊB áÑ ãÐãXåºáÑ
ãÅCáÇáW ákåËã® CáËáºánCᶠåkẠáäÈâ[
ãÍãjáká® ãAEá¶áÑ áÑ
Then it parted from us at the
completion of its time, the end of its
term, and the fulfillment of its
CáËå×áÃá® âÐâºBáo㶠áäqá® åÌáÆ áBájáÑ
âÍÒâ®ãäjáÒâÆ âÌådáËá¶
So we bid farewell to it with the
farewell of one whose parting pains
us,
CáäËá® âжBáoã|åÊB CáËáxácåÑáF áÑ
CáËáäÇá² áÑ
whose leaving fills us with gloom
and loneliness,

CáËáÆãqá áÑ
and to whom we have come to owe
a safeguarded claim,
âäUáä×ã®åoáÇåÂB âUáÆåoâdåÂB áÑ
an observed inviolability,
âäØã£å»áÇåÂB âä¼ádåÂB áÑ
and a discharged right.
áoáRå¾áÛBB ãÐáäÃÂB áoåÏáw CáÖ áÀ×ãÃá®
âÅáÚáätÂB áÉÒâÃãMEẠâÌådáËá¶
ãÐãMEá×ãÂåÑáF ák×ã® CáÖ áÑ
We say: Peace be upon you,
O greatest month of God!
O festival of His friends!
ãVCáºåÑáÛBB áÌãÆ èPÒâdå|áÆ áÅáoå¾áF
EáÖ áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
ãVCá®CáätÂBáÑ ãÅCáäÖáÛBB Ø㶠èoåÏáw

Peace be upon you,
O most noble of accompanying
âÁCáÆåÝB ãÐ×㶠åYáQâoẠèoåÏáw åÌãÆ
áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
âÁCáÇå®áÛBB ãÐ×㶠åVáoãxâÊ áÑ
Peace be upon you,
month in which expectations come
near
BæjÒâ_åÒáÆ âÍânåkẠáäÄá_ èÌÖãoẠåÌãÆ
áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
Peace be upon you,
comrade who is great in worth when
found,
âÐâºBáo㶠áÈáÂD èäÒâ_åoáÆ áÑ
BæjÒâ»å·áÆ âÍâkå»á¶ á°á`å¶áF áÑ
and who torments through absence
when lost, anticipated friend whose
parting gives pain!
áäoátᶠæÚãRå»âÆ áuáÊD è¸×ãÂáF åÌãÆ
áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
áä¤áÇᶠCá×ã£á»åËâÆ áyácåÑáF áÑ
Peace be upon you,
familiar who brought comfort in coming,
thus making happy, who left loneliness in
going,
thus giving anguish!
âPÒâÃâ»åÂB ãÐ×㶠åYáäºán ènãÑCá`âÆ
åÌãÆ áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
âPÒâÊâämÂB ãÐ×㶠åYáäÃẠáÑ
Peace be upon you,
neighbour in whom hearts became
tender and sins became few!

áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
ãÉCátåcãåßB áÄâRâs áÄáäÏás èSãcCá{ áÑ
Peace be upon you,
helper who aided against Satan,
companion who made easy the paths
of good-doing!
áÀ×㶠ãÐáäÃÂB áAEá»áXâ® áoá\å¾áF EáÆ
áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
áÀãQ áÀáXáÆåoâc Ôá®án åÌáÆ áká¯åsáF

Peace be upon you How many became freedmen of God
within you! How happy those who
observed the respect due to you!
ãPÒâÊâämÃã á½CádåÆáF áÉCá¾ CáÆ
áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB
ãPÒâ×â¯åÂB ãBáÒåÊáãÛ á½áoáXåsáF áÑ
Peace be upon you How many sins you erased!
How many kinds of faults you
áÌ×ãÆãoå`âÇåÂB ÔáÃá® áÀáÂáÒå¦áF áÉCá¾
CáÆ áÀå×áÃá® âÅáÚáätÂB

Peace be upon you and upon your
bounty which has now been made
unlawful to us and upon your

O Alláh, we are the people of this
month.
âÐáXåºáÑ âAEá×ã»åwáÛBB áÄãÏá_ áÌ×ãc
âÐá áÀãäËáÇãQ CáËáXå»áä¶áÑ áÑ
and given us success because of Your
kindness, while the wretched are
ignorant of its time.
âÐáÃå£á¶ åÈãÏãMEá»áxã BÒâÆãoâc áÑ
Made unlawful to them is its
bounty because of their
wretchedness.
ãÐãXá¶ãoå¯áÆ åÌãÆ ãÐãQ
CáËáWåoá[D CáÆ âäØãÂáÑ áYåÊáF
áÑ
You are the patron of the
knowledge of it by which You
ãÐãXáäËâs åÌãÆ âÐá CáËáXåÖákáÎ áÑ
and its prescribed practices to
which You have guided us.
èo×ã|å»áW ÔáÃá® âÐáÆCá×ãºáÑ âÐáÆCá×ã{
áÀã»×ã¶åÒáXãQ CáËå×áäÂáÒáW åkẠáÑ
We have undertaken, through Your
giving success, its fasting and its
standing in prayer, but with
shortcomings,
èo×ã\á¾ åÌãÆ æÚ×ãÃẠãÐ×ã¶
CáËåÖáäjáF áÑ
and we have performed little of
much.
ãTáAEásãåßCãQ BænBáoåºãH âkåÇádåÂB
áÀáÃᶠáäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, so to You belongs praise,
in admission of evil doing,
ãUá®Cá¢ãåßCãQ Cæ¶BáoãXå®B áÑ
and confession of negligence,
ãÅákáäËÂB âkå»á® CáËãQÒâÃ⺠åÌãÆ
áÀá áÑ
and to You belongs remorse firmly
knitted in our hearts,
ãnBámãXå®ãÙB â¹åkã{ CáËãXáËãtåÂáF
åÌãÆ áÑ
and seeking of pardon sincerely
uttered by our tongues.
ã¨Öãoå·áäXÂB áÌãÆ ãÐ×㶠CáËáQCá{F EáÆ
ÔáÃá® CáÊåoâ_åGá¶
Reward us, in spite of the neglect that
befell us in this month,
ãÐ×㶠áPÒâ²åoáÇåÂB áÄå£á·åÂB ãÐãQ
â½ãnåkáXåtáÊ Bæoå_F
with a reward through which we may
reach the bounty desired from it,
ãÐå×áÃá® ãzÑâoådáÇåÂB ãoågâämÂB ãBáÒåÊáF åÌãÆ ãÐãQ â¡CáXå¯áÊ áÑ
and win the varieties of its craved
stores!

Make incumbent upon us Your pardon
for our falling short of Your right in
this month

CáËÖãkåÖáF áÌå×áQ CáÆ CáÊãnCáÇå®áGãQ
å´âÃåQB áÑ
and make our lives which lie before us
reach the coming month of Rama_án!

Once You have made us reach it,
ãTájCáRã¯åÂB áÌãÆ âÐâÃåÎáF áYåÊáF
EáÆ ãÁâÑCáËáW ÔáÃá®

help us perform the worship of
which You are worthy,
ãUá®Cáä§ÂB áÌãÆ âÐâä»ãdáXåtáÖ
CáÇãQ ãÅCá×ã»åÂB ÔáÂãH EáÊãäjáF
áÑ
cause us to undertake the
obedience which You deserve,
áÀãä»ádã Cæ¾ánáj âÉÒ¿áÖ CáÆ
ãÄáÇá¯åÂB ãeãÂCá{ åÌãÆ CáËá ãoå_áF
áÑ
ãoåÎáäkÂB ãnÒâÏâw åÌãÆ ãÌåÖáoåÏáäxÂB Øã¶
and grant us righteous works that we
may fulfill Your right in these two
èÈáÇá åÌãÆ BámáÎ CáÊãoåÏáw Ø㶠ãÐãQ
CáËåÇáÇåÂáF EáÆ áÑ áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
èÈå[ãH åÑáF
O Alláh, as for the small and large sins
which we have committed in this our
month,
èUáN×ã§ág åÌãÆ ãÐ×㶠CáËåRátáXå¾B áÑ
èSåÊál åÌãÆ ãÐ×㶠CáËå¯áºBáÑ åÑáF
the misdeeds into which we have
fallen, and the offenses which we
have earned
CáËátâ·åÊáF ãÐ×㶠CáËåÇáÃ᪠èÉCá×åtãÊ
ÔáÃá® åÑáF EáäËãÆ èkâäÇá¯áW ÔáÃá®
purposefully or in forgetfulness,
wronging ourselves thereby
CáÊãoå×á² åÌãÆ æUáÆåoâc ãÐãQ
CáËå¿áÏáXåÊB ãÑáF
or violating the respect due to
others,
ãÐãÂD áÑ èkáäÇádâÆ ÔáÃá® ãäÄá|á¶
bless Mu<ammad and his
Household,
á½ãoåXãtãQ CáÊåoâXåsB áÑ
cover us over with Your covering,
á½ãÒå·á¯ãQ CáäËá® â¸å®B áÑ
pardon us through Your
pardoning,
áÌ×ãXãÆCáäxÂB ãÌâ×å®áãÛ ãÐ×ã¶
CáËåRã|åËáW áÙ áÑ
place us not before the eyes of the
gloaters because of that,
áÌ×ãËã®Cáä§ÂB áÌâtåÂáF ãÐ×ã¶
CáËå×áÃá® å¨âtåRáW áÙ áÑ
stretch not toward us the tongues
of the defamers,
CáäËãÆ áVåoá¿åÊáF EáÇã æTánCáä·á¾áÑ
æUáä§ãc âÉÒâ¿áÖ CáÇãQ CáËåÃãÇå¯áXåsB áÑ
ãÐ×ã¶
and employ us in that which will alleviate
and expiate whatever You disapprove
from us within it
âká·åËáW áÙ Ø~ãXáäÂB áÀãXá¶åFáoãQ
through Your clemency which
does not run out,
â}â»åËáÖ áÙ ÕãmáäÂB áÀãÃå£á¶ áÑ
and Your bounty which does not
diminish!
ãÐãÂD áÑ èkáäÇádâÆ ÔáÃá® ãäÄá{
áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh bless Mu<ammad and his
Household,
CáÊãoåÏáxãQ CáËáXáR×ã|âÆ åoâRå_B
áÑ
redress our being afflicted by our
month,
CáÊãoå§ã¶áÑ CáÊãk×ã® ãÅåÒáÖ Øã¶
CáËá å½ãnCáQ áÑ
bless us in this day of our festival
and our fast-breaking,
èÒå·á¯ã ãÐãRáÃå_áF EáËå×áÃá® áäoáÆ
èÅåÒáÖ ãoå×ág åÌãÆ âÐåÃá¯å_B áÑ
èSåÊámã âÍCádåÆáF áÑ
make it one of the best of days that
have passed over us, the greatest in
attracting Your pardon, and the most
effacing toward sins,
áÌáÃá® CáÆ áÑ CáËãQÒâÊâl åÌãÆ
áØã·ág CáÆ CáËá åoã·å²B áÑ
and forgive us our sins, both the
concealed and the public!
CáÊCáÖCá§ág åÌãÆ ãoåÏáäxÂB BámáÎ
ãfáÚãtåÊCãQ CáËåháÃåsB áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, with the passing of this month
make us pass forth from our offenses,
CáËãWCáNãä×ás åÌãÆ ãÐã_ÑâoâhãQ
CáËå_ãoågáF áÑ
with its departure make us depart
from our evil deeds,
ãÐ×㶠CæÇåt㺠åÈãÏãÂáqå_áF áÑ ãÐãQ
ãÐãÃåÎáF ãká¯åsáF åÌãÆ CáËåÃá¯å_B áÑ
âÐåËãÆ Cæä«ác åÈãÎãoá¶åÑáF áÑ
and appoint us thereby among its
most felicitous people, the most
plentiful of them in portion, and the
ãÐãXáÖCá®ãn áä¼ác ãoåÏáäxÂB BámáÎ áä¼ác
Ôá®án åÌáÆáÑ áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, when any person observes
this month as it should be observed,
CáÏã«å·ãc áä¼ác âÐáXáÆåoâc á¬ã·ác áÑ
safeguards its inviolability as it should
be safeguarded,
CáÏãÆCá×㺠áä¼ác ãÍãjÑâkâdãQ áÅCáº
áÑ
attends to its bounds as they
should be attended to,
CáÏãWCá»âW áä¼ác âÐáQÒâÊâl
Ôá»áäWB áÑ
fears its misdeeds as they should
be feared,
âÐá á½Cá¢ãn åYáRá_åÑáF
èUáQåoâ»ãQ áÀå×áÂãH áPáäoá»áW
åÑáF
or seeks nearness to You with any
act of nearness-seeking which
ãÐå×áÃá® áÀáXáÇåcán åYá·á§á® áÑ
and bends toward him Your mercy,
á½ãkå_Ñ åÌãÆ âÐáÃå\ãÆ CáËáÂ
åSáÏá¶
give to us the like [of that] from
Your wealth
áÀãÃå£á¶ åÌãÆ âÐá¶Cá¯å¢áF
EáËã§å®áF áÑ
and bestow it upon us in multiples
through Your bounty,
â¤×ã³áÖ áÙ áÀáÃå£á¶ áäÉãIá¶
for Your bounty does not diminish,
â¤×ã·áW åÄáQ â}â»åËáW áÙ
áÀáËãMDáqág áäÉãH áÑ
Your treasuries do not decrease
but overflow,
ÔáËå·áW áÙ áÀãÊCátåcãH áÉãjCá¯áÆ
áäÉãH áÑ
the mines of Your beneficence are
not exhausted,
CáäËáÏâÇåÂB âAEá§á¯åÃá á½áAEá§á®
áäÉãH áÑ
and Your bestowal is the bestowal
full of delight!
ãÐãÂD áÑ èkáäÇádâÆ ÔáÃá® ãäÄá{
áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh bless Mu<ammad and his
Household,
ãÐ×㶠áÀá ákáäRá¯áW åÑáF âÐáÆCá{ åÌáÆ
ãnÒâ_âF áÄå\ãÆ CáËá åSâXå¾B áÑ
ãUáÆCá×ã»åÂB ãÅåÒáÖ ÔáÂãH
and write for us the like of the wages
of him who fasted in it or worshipped
You within it
until the Day of Resurrection!
CáÊãoå§ã¶ ãÅåÒáÖ Ø㶠áÀå×áÂãH
âPÒâXáÊ CáäÊãH áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, we repent to You in our
day of fast-breaking,
BænÑâoâsáÑ Bæk×ã®
áÌ×ãËãÆåKâÇåÃã âÐáXåÃá¯á_
ÕãmáäÂB
which You have appointed for the
faithful a festival and a joy,
BækáxáXådâÆáÑ Cæ¯áÇå`áÆ
áÀãXáäÃãÆ ãÄåÎáãÛ áÑ
and for the people of Your creed a
time of assembly and gathering,
âÍCáËåR~áÊåláF èSåÊál ãäÄâ¾ åÌãÆ
from every misdeed we did,
âÍCáËå·áÃåsáF èAÒâs åÑáF
ill work we sent ahead,
âÍCáÊåoáÇå¢áF èäoáw ãoã¦Cág åÑáF
or evil thought we secretly
conceived,
èSåÊál ÔáÂãH èÒâ_ân ÔáÃá®
ÕãÒá§åËáÖ áÙ åÌáÆ áUáQåÒáW
the repentance of one who does
not harbour a return to sin,
èUáN×ã§ág Ø㶠CáÎákå¯áQ âjÒâ¯áÖ áÙ
áÑ
and who afterwards will not go
back to offense,
ãPCá×ãWånãÙBáÑ ãäÀáäxÂB áÌãÆ
åYá|áÃág CæcÒâ|áÊ æUáQåÒáW
an unswerving repentance rid of
doubt and wavering.
CáÏå×áÃá® CáËåXãäR~á[ áÑ CáäËá®
á¡ånB áÑ CáäËãÆ CáÏåÃáäRá»áXá¶
So accept it from us, be pleased
with us, and fix us within it!
ãk×ã®áÒåÂB ãPCá»ã® áµåÒág
CáËåºâpånB áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, provide us with fear of the
threatened punishment,
ãjÒâ®åÒáÇåÂB ãPBáÒá[ á¹åÒáw áÑ
and yearning for the promised
reward,
ãÐãQ á½Òâ®åkáÊ CáÆ áTáämá ákã`áÊ
ÔáäXác
so that we may find the pleasure of
that for which we supplicate You,
âÐåËãÆ á½âo×ã`áXåtáÊ CáÆ
áUáQåGá¾ áÑ
and the sorrow of that from which
we seek sanctuary in You!
áÌ×ãQBáäÒáäXÂB áÌãÆ á½ákåËã®
CáËåÃá¯å_B áÑ
And place us with You among the
repenters,
áÀáXáäRádáÆ åÈâÏá áYåRá_åÑáF
áÌÖãmáäÂB
those upon whom You have made
Your love obligatory
áÀãXá®CᦠáUá¯á_BáoâÆ åÈâÏåËãÆ
áYåÃãRẠáÑ
and from whom You have accepted
the return to obeying You!
áÌ×ãÂãjCá¯åÂB áÁákå®áF EáÖ
O Most Just of the just!
Cæ¯×ãÇá_ CáËãËÖãj ãÄåÎFáÑ
CáËãWCáÏáäÆâFáÑ CáËãMEáQD åÌá®
åpáÑCá`áW áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh, show forbearance toward our
fathers and our mothers and all the
people of our religion,
ãUáÆCá×ã»åÂB ãÅåÒáÖ ÔáÂãH áoáRá²
åÌáÆáÑ åÈâÏåËãÆ á¸áÃás åÌáÆ
those who have gone and those
who will pass by, until the Day of
Resurrection!
ãÐãÂD áÑ CáËãä×ãRáÊ èkáäÇádâÆ
ÔáÃá® ãäÄá{ áäÈ~âÏ~áäÃÂB
O Alláh bless our prophet
Mu<ammad and his Household,

as You have blessed Your angels
brought near,
áÌ×ãÃásåoâÇåÂB áÀãMEá×ãRåÊáF ÔáÃá®

áÑ
bless him and his Household, as You have
blessed Your prophets sent out,
áÌ×ãdãÂCáä|ÂB á½ãjCáRã® ÔáÃá® áYå×áäÃá{
CáÇá¾ ãÐãÂD áÑ ãÐå×áÃá® ãäÄá{ áÑ
bless him and his Household, as You have
blessed Your righteous servants,
æTáÚá{ áÌ×ãÇáÂCá¯åÂB áäPán CáÖ áÀãÂál
åÌãÆ Äá£å¶áF áÑ
CáÏâXá¾áoáQ CáËâ³âÃåRáW
- and better than that, O Lord of the
worlds! - a blessing whose
benediction will reach us,
CáÊâJEá®âj CáÏá âPCá`áXåtâÖ áÑ CáÏâ¯å·áÊ
CáËâÂCáËáÖ áÑ
whose benefit will attain to us, and
through which our supplication may
be granted!
ãÐå×áÂãH áSã²ân åÌáÆ âÅáoå¾áF
áÀáäÊãH
You are the most generous of
those who are beseeched,
ãÐå×áÃá® áÄãä¾ÒâW åÌáÆ Ôá·å¾áF
áÑ
the most sufficient of those in
whom confidence is had,
ãÐãÃå£á¶ åÌãÆ áÄãNâs åÌáÆ Ôá§å®áF
áÑ
the most bestowing of those from
whom bounty is asked,
çoÖãkẠèAØáw ãäÄâ¾ ÔáÃá® áYåÊáF
áÑ
and You are powerful over
everything! (3:26)
