The Analytics Cloud builds on the IBM Smarter Planet initiative by offering the
latest Business Intelligence and Predictive Analytics software and services to
academic researchers and NYS companies of all sizes, including IT companies.
Marist will host the Center and provide the IT services, including hardware,
software, training, and consulting services. As a stakeholder in this proposal, IBM
will supply state-of-the-art Business Analytics software, including Cognos and SPSS
Modeler software products.
The Cloud Computing and Analytics Incubation Center, a first-of-its-kind, will
work with companies on early-stage IT projects, particularly those related to Cloud
Computing, Analytics, and their associated technologies. The Incubation Center will
be available to companies and non-profits, allowing them to access and explore cuttingedge software and hardware technologies, working with a team of experts, with the
goal of developing and testing ways to deploy the new technologies in commercial
Cloud Computing environments.
The Workforce Development Cloud will provide critical education and training,
through the Cloud, in Analytics and Cloud Computing, as well as other critical
areas, leveraging the work already begun by the NSF-funded IDCP, and utilizing
the existing z/OS Knowledge Center, and the Virtual Computing Laboratory (VCL)
housed at Marist. The new and existing workforce development courses and
programs delivered through the cloud would be rolled out statewide through the
NYS Department of Labor Walk-in Centers or One-Stop Centers.
