• Old Index Medicus database

• Back to 1860s (primarily back to 1950s)

What is MEDLINE?
• Articles are indexed by Real People.
• Terms are assigned that come from a
Controlled Vocabulary (Thesaurus) called
MeSH (Medical Subject Headings).
• MeSH includes sets of subheadings that apply
to each term and uses markers to indicate
which terms reflect the main focus of the
article.
