Uniqueness of Makhana
• Unique, nutritive organic natural food of wetland.
• Extensively grown in North Bihar, with new technology grow
in other part
• It is a unexploited under utilized crop.
• It has high protein 9-10%, carbohydrate 75-80,% fat 0.1%,
iron 1.4mg/100, also had small % of cal. phosphorus and
other minerals.
• It has Great Medicinal value also.
• 85% of total prod. in Bihar specially in nine Districts. (D ,M,
S-3, K-2, P & A)
• 100gm Makhana give 362k.cal energy and filled belly
• Makhana pop is fancy diet, more than nutrition, also use in
regional ritual.
