treatment of chemicals. Proper sash work height is 46 cm

Do not place your face inside the hood. Keep hands out as
much as possible

Only malodorous chemicals are allowed to be stored in a
Hood.

Work at least 25 cm inside hood.

Avoid blocking off baffle exhaust slots. Elevate
large equipments 5 cm off the base of the hood


• Those yellow roll wipers are not Clean Room compatible.

treatment of water, RCA1, RCA2, and dilute
solutions.
• Class II : Used for treating pure acids, solvents, and water
soluble salts.

Cyanide refers to large family of chemical each of which contains a
chemical unit called cyanide unit
CN
Chemical compounds which contains carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) could,
under very specific conditions, produce the cyanide ion. The cyanide
ion is responsible for cyanide poisoning.
Cyanide poisoning takes place when cyanide compounds break down in
the body to release the cyanide ion. Degree of cyanide toxicity depends
on how easily cyanide ion is released from rest of compound.

To be able to rescue the victim at right time and in a right way
one has to be well grounded in emergency help regarding
different chemical attack
Read well the section 4 in MSDS of all chemicals that you and
your colloquies will be processing in the laboratory location
Note that the victim can not rescue himself/herself.

• Inform the Clean Room chemists.
• Call emergency if necessary, Ambulance, Rescue Center, and
Toxin-Information. Appendix A8.
• Inform the others to evacuate the contaminated area.
• Decontaminate the area if possible.

• Use suitable protective wear , aprons, gloves,masks, filters,
and shoe covers .

 Use the white wipers to cleanup the equipments.
 Use yellow wipers(roll wipers) to cleanup the floor.
• Pick up contaminated wipers in the plastic bags for chemical
waste(yellow plastic bags, available in room 3R47 or 15).

 Decontamination step by step
• Write down the name of the contaminant on the bags,
following the instruction given in section 3.
• Leave the bags in the right Hood (not the bags with yellow
wipers in).

Decontamination
The yellow wipers are Clean Room incompatible wipers and they
should not be left on the floor for long time. These wipers should be
removed out of cleanroom immediately after cleanup.
Clean Room cleaners (charwomen) are not Decontamination-Crew
and must not be in contact with any chemical while cleaning.
Those who carry out chemical process are responsible to leave
things tidy and ensure that the room is free of any contaminant
which may hazards the cleaners.
