Kevan and his partner Brian bought their first Cavalier as a pet in 1972. Although a beautiful pet, she was not a show specimen. After some research, they approached Susan Burgess (Crisdig) for a foundation bitch. Their Ricksbury line stems from this Ch. Crisdig Leading Seaman daughter. They have bred some outstanding Cavaliers over the years, winning many C.C.’s and Groups. National Show – Saturday, October 20, 2012 Sylvie has always lived with and been dedicated to cats and dogs. She got her first show dog in 1974 – a boxer that she loved dearly. Then, in 1976, two Shi Tzu’s introduced her to the world of dog shows. She fell in love with an English Toy Spaniel during her first visit to the famed Crufts show in England. Cavaliers joined her kennel later. Sylvie is approved to judge many breeds, and we look forward to her being an integral part of our National Show Weekend. Trudy Show – Friday, October 19, 2012 Mary Grace and her husband, Ted, got their first Cavalier in 1990, which created an addiction to the breed that changed their lives. She remains dedicated to the breed and works constantly to support and improve the health and well being of these dogs. Mary Grace is a retired children’s book illustrator and has had the opportunity to put the Cavalier images in many books including the first four BARNEY THE DINOSAUR publications. She always enjoyed taking her Cavaliers to the book signings – something that was equally enjoyed by the children who attended! Aside from her more than 20 years as a breeder of many champions, Mary Grace served on the CKCSC National board from 1998-2005 and is currently serving the board as the CMW representative through 2013. She has co-chaired over 20 CKCSC shows, as well as 10 Fun Matches at her home in Texas. Spalding Show – Sunday, October 21, 2012 Brenda’s first encounter with a Cavalier was at a fun match in 1994. The following year, Brookhaven Cavaliers was born with the addition of a sweet Tricolor female, Luxxar Joyride. Together with her sister Paula, she has finished many CKCSC, USA champions, as well as having bred both CKCSC and AKC champions. Brenda continues to be active with Cavaliers of the South, and has served on many committees for the National club. Puppy Sweeps – Thursday Evening, October 18, 2012 Ted and his wife Mary Grace have been breeders of Cavaliers since 1990, and they have produced approximately 90 AKC champions, and more than 40 CKCSC champions. Ted was breeder/owner/handler of the number one AKC Cavalier in both 2007 and 2008. His Cavaliers have been winners of National Specialties, Westminster breed competition, and Eukanuba group placements. Veteran Sweeps – Thursday Evening, October 18, 2012 Top 20 Gala and People’s Choice Competition Friday Evening, October 19, 2012 The top twenty Cavaliers, as well as the top three Cavaliers of each color (if not already in the top twenty), are invited to compete. The purpose of this event is to recognize those Cavaliers who best exemplify the breed. Competition will be judged by three “Mystery” judges, whose names will be kept secret until the evening of the event. At the same time, spectators can participate as “People’s Choice” ringside judges by filling in a ballot that will be provided. Winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the Saturday evening banquet. This will be a night of celebration, including a gala party with food and drink, a Parade of Champions (both old and new) and Major Titled winners, and recognition of top ten Junior Handlers. Getting her start in the dog fancy as a Junior Handler over 40 years ago, Claudia Waller Orlandi, Ph.D., has been a successful breeder of Basset Hounds for over two decades under the Topsfield prefix. Topsfield Bassets hold numerous Breed and All-Breed show records. Claudia's enthusiasm for breeding is matched only by her passion for teaching and working with other breeders. Her ABC's of Dog Breeding Home Study Program is based on the enthusiastic response to her educational seminars on breeding and her belief that anyone can and should understand the practical rules of animal breeding and canine genetics in their quest to breed better, healthier dogs. Seminar – All day Thursday, October 18, 2012 Have your Cavalier examined by specialists in Canine Cardiology and Ophthalmology at a far lower price than you would incur for an office visit.
