• Ball is “in play” when:
– Kicked and moves
– Leaves penalty area (if appropriate)
• Goal can be scored when:
– Ball is “in play”

– Any of the 9 DFK fouls
– Charging a player who has both feet off

A penalty kick is awarded if the
defending team commits any of
the DFK fouls within their own
penalty area
Penalty Kick Requirements

• Requirements that must be met:
– Ball stationary, on penalty mark
– Kicker and goalkeeper are identified and
properly positioned
– All others are at least ten yards from the ball,
on the field, outside penalty area and behind
penalty mark
– Signal must be given by referee

– Ball must be kicked and moved forward
– Kicker cannot play ball a second time until
someone else has touched it
– Goalkeeper may not leave goal line
– Stutter step or faking by kicker is not
allowed
