• ISOC is changing
– It is becoming larger, more present and active
– It has doubled the size of its staff
– It has decided on opening regional bureaus
– It’s budget will increase every year
– It will be initiating multi-year strategic initiative

ISOC in Africa
• ISOC was active in Africa since its early days
– 1993 to 2001, through the annual Internet Society
(ISOC) Network Training Workshop for Countries
in the Early Stages of Internetworking
– Supporting trainings and workshops organized by
Afnog, Aftld, Afrinic during the last 8 years
– Supporting participation of Africans in IETF
– Promoting ISOC chapters in Africa
– Supporting projects initiated by chapters
