OCCT Client Overview
Web-based application installed on each workstation or
the network that can be launched from the desktop icon
 Needs internet connection to communicate with the
testing server using web technologies via HTTP and
HTTPS
 Internet connectivity is required to download test
content and submit responses for scoring
 If there is no internet available when the students’
answers are submitted, the Client will store those
answers (encrypted) until it is re-launched after
internet connectivity is restored
 Further instructions can be found in the help guides on
the Help & Support page
17
Measured Progress ©2014
OCCT Client Failsafe Mechanism
Periodic Data Syncs (Heartbeats)
 Triggered to periodically save and protect student
responses
 Internet interruption during testing:
 Encrypted responses saved in the location indicated
during installation
 Responses sent to server once internet is available
 Internet interruption at the end of testing:
 Student will receive a warning screen to alert their
proctor the responses cannot be sent
 Proctor must re-launch the Client once internet
connectivity is restored to send responses
18
Measured Progress ©2014
Test Security
Content
 Encrypted test content using RSA
 Remains encrypted during transmission from web
server to Client on student workstation
 Downloaded and decrypted upon student login
 Decrypted content is stored in memory and expires
immediately after Client is exited
Student Data
 Uses industry standard 128-bit SSL encryption
Device Security
 Kiosk-mode restricts students from accessing other
programs/applications during testing
 iPad® Guided Access restricts students from accessing
other programs/applications during testing

* Because of security and support risks, the use of Windows XP for online testing is being discouraged by the SDE. Districts are being advised that superintendents
and test coordinators must take into account that any decision to use devices running Windows XP constitutes an agreement to assume the risks of decreased
software performance and increased security risks associated with use of an obsolete operating system. Any decision to use XP devices assumes risks that are beyond
the responsibility or control of the SDE or the testing vendor.
** If you are interested in testing with an Android device, please contact the Oklahoma State Department of Education at (405) 521-3364 prior to testing.

Student Labels
Student labels will be provided for every student needing paper forms indicated through the Wave as of February 13th.
Students with Labels: Verify Student Information

If the student name is correct but all other information on the label is wrong, use the label. There is no need to
bubble corrections on the student demographic page. Corrections to student data will be made during the
corrections period.

If the student name is incorrect, do not use the label and bubble the student information on the demographic page
of the answer document.

If a school receives labels for students who are no longer enrolled, adhere the label to a blank student answer
document and mark the reason in box S.
Students without Labels:

If a student does not have a label for any reason (e.g., label is missing, lost or damaged), bubble the student
information on the student demographic page of the answer document.

If student ID labels for an entire class are missing, students may bubble their own demographic information.
