FlexCargoRail (FCR): Concept
• Self-propelled, radio remote controlled freight wagons
• Own electric traction for shunting movements and local
distribution
• Accumulator charged in the main run (loco-hauled)
• Project FCR funded by BMWi from 2007-2008

FCR: Conclusion
• The project FCR (2007-2008) showed the basic
technical and economic feasibility
• Open points:
• Safe selection and deselection of the FCR-wagons by
radio remote control
• Homologation (for private sidings or main line?)
• Qualification of the personnel for moving FCR-Wagons
via radio remote control
• A new project consortium strives for the funding of a
second project with the aim of solving the open points
and of building and testing prototypes
