SYSTEMS
40 item evolve on-line test over 60 minutes
Based on 2399 common unit using updated questions
The level of questioning and understanding needed is much higher than 2357302

a. recycling circulation
b. the recirculation cycle
c. the refrigeration cycle
d. gravity circulation.

UNIT 301 FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES AND
REQUIREMENTS OF ENVIRONMENTALTECHNOLOGY
SYSTEMS
Answer
The operating principle of a ground source heat pump is
a. recycling circulation
b. the recirculation cycle
c. the refrigeration cycle
d. gravity circulation.
Next question:
Which one of the following should be installed when connecting an air source
heat pump to an under-floor heating system?
a. Non-return valve.
b. Buffer tank.
c. Heat sink radiator.
d. Heat pump interlock.

Answer
Which one of the following should be installed when connecting an air source
heat pump to an under-floor heating system?
a. Non-return valve.
b. Buffer tank.
c. Heat sink radiator.
d. Heat pump interlock.
So a good knowledge of all technologies is required including system
components and operating principles.
Centre (electrical) staff who have a basic understanding of the operating
principles of environmental technologies should be capable of delivering this.

UNIT 305 ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
DESIGN
A radial final circuit is protected by a 20 A type B circuit breaker to BS EN 60898
and is wired using 2.5 mm2 70 0C thermoplastic single-core live conductors with a
1.5 mm2 cpc to a length of 28 m in steel trunking. The ambient temperature is 20
0C. The installation and supply form a 230 V single-phase TN-C-S system and the
final circuit is supplied by a distribution board located at the origin of the
installation. Ze and prospective fault current have been measured and recorded as
0.1 Ω and 2.3 kA respectively.
Determine
a)the R1+R2 for this circuit
a)the value of short circuit current at the end point of the circuit
a)if the circuit breaker will disconnect within the required time under earth fault
conditions

APL to 2357 ELECTRO-TECHNICAL
TECHNOLOGY
•
A bridge unit will be devised in the autumn of 2012 which will cover any 2357
assessment criteria which is not contained within 2365
•
This will allow candidates to move onto 2357 in order to gain an NVQ
•
The unit will cover knowledge elements of 2357 which relate to the workplace
such as-
303.2.2 Specify organisational policies/procedures for the handover and
demonstration of electrotechnical systems, products and equipment, including
requirements for confirming and recording handover.
•
Candidates will have to complete all performance units, as well the
Environmental and occupational competence (AM2) unit within 2357 to gain
the full level 3 NVQ Diploma. These details are still TBC

2357 ELECTRO-TECHNICAL TECHNOLOGY
UPDATE
2357 version B’s for all units have been written and are ready for
September
All version A’s have been reviewed and any duplication of assessment
removed to slim down the assignments by a small amount
More and more centres are seeing that this qualification is enjoyed by
students and students learn much more through the assignments.
2357 is a robust qualification which assesses all unit criteria. Candidates
who achieve these units can be proud of their knowledge.
Industry is seeing that this qualification gives candidates a good
understanding of the knowledge needed to work in the industry
Please remember that whilst some units may stand alone (301, 302) some
units need to be taught and assessed concurrently (303, 304, 305, 309)
