Overnight Travel


Every night at a specified time there will be room checks. Once room
checks are done, students are to remain in their rooms for the remainder
of the night. Students are not to leave their rooms for any reason, unless
it is an emergency and they are getting a chaperone. Failure to follow this
rule will get you sent home immediately at your parents’ expense.
GIRLS are not allowed in a boy’s room, and BOYS are not allowed in a
girl’s room for any reason!!! If you are caught in the room of an opposite
sex you will be sent home immediately at your parents’ expense
regardless of what was going on in the room. This type of behavior will
not be tolerated and is totally unacceptable on any trip. Failure to follow
this rule will not only get you sent home early but may result in further
school discipline.
The SKHS Bands will follow all Band Handbook rules and SKHS School
rules, regulations and policies

Good manners
Cooperate with your chaperones and keep them
notified where your group is going to be at all times.
If you feel ill, tell your chaperone immediately!
Review your itinerary and be aware of your
responsibilities.
Be considerate and arrive on time. Being late holds
up the entire group.
Eat properly.
Get plenty of sleep at night.
Don’t spread rumors; if you have any questions ask
your Director or a Travel Director.
Always travel in groups of 4 or more. NEVER
TRAVEL ALONE!!!!!

Be aware of emergency exits..
At curfew, you must be in your own room. No one is to
enter your room after this time except chaperones or staff.
Keep the noise level down. Do not play or practice
instruments in your room.
Elevators are used to transport all hotel guests.
Respect the fact that there are other guests staying in the
hotel.
Do not remove towels or other “souvenirs” from your
room. You will have to pay for them.
Do not drop or throw ANYTHING from hotel windows.
Keep your room locked at all times!
No student is allowed in anyone else’s room at anytime,
NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!
Keep your room clean!! Please throw garbage away and
put your things away everyday.

Be aware of your surroundings.
Travel in groups of at least 4. Never go out
alone!!
Stay with your group. Make sure you are NEVER
totally alone. Always be with at least three other
people from your group at all times.
Keep a firm grip on your personal belongings and
keep your wallet in your front pocket.
Pay attention to traffic signals and don’t walk too
close to the curb.
Be aware of stranger danger. Let a chaperone or
director know immediately of any creepy
behavior.
WHAT TO PACK

Toiletries and medication. The written prescription must
accompany the product. Inhalers and Epi-Pens need to be
kept on your person at all times.
Swimsuit (one piece for girls, cover-up, and pool towel and no
speedos for guys! (hotel has an outdoor seasonal pool.)
You are allowed one (1) suitcase (checked baggage), your
instrument (checked bag if needed) and two (2) carry-ons.
Please pack smart; only take what you think you will need.
Pack clothes that will be appropriate for Washington D.C.
during early spring (it will be slightly warmer than our
winters). Layers are good. You will need your: uniform (& all
its parts), black band shirt, polo shirt and your Cherry
Blossom shirt (these will be handed out during our spring
break practices).
Toiletries: tooth brush, toothpaste, mouthwash, soap,
shampoo, sunscreen and DEODORANT!!!!!!!!
MONEY NEEDED
1.
Take enough money for snacks, souvenirs and all
meals not listed in your tour conditions. Take a
debit or credit card, not cash, if you plan to carry
much money.
WHAT TO WEAR
1.
Casual wear is appropriate for the entire trip,
unless otherwise instructed. A windbreaker,
sweater, jacket or light raincoat may come in
handy. Please, no ripped/torn jeans! You are
representing your school and hometown. Dressier
clothing will be needed for the dinner cruise. Be
sure to wear comfortable shoes, as we will be
walking a great deal.
MOTORCOACH INSTRUCTIONS

Blankets and pillows are allowed on the coach. IPOD’s and
portable cd players may be used but please, as a courtesy to others
– especially the driver – headphones must be used. Personal items
are your own responsibility.
Do not leave personal items on the coach overnight.
Food may be taken on board as long as the coach is kept clean and
neat. Any spillage should be taken care of immediately. Milk
products and glass are prohibited.
Please treat your driver with respect and courtesy.
A rest room is provided for your convenience on board the
motorcoach. It is equipped with a chemical toilet and once it is full,
it is unusable until it can be emptied. Do not use it unnecessarily
and do not flush any foreign objects down it. Try to use the
restroom at rest stops whenever possible. Also, smoking is not
allowed in the motorcoach.
Do not disembark until your Travel Director or Director releases
you. (Your stop may not last very long!)
