 Accelerate Learning has invested in the development of a Mobile Tuition Centre, with
state of the art facilities, that will be equipped with skilled teaching staff to deliver
bespoke tuition packages to local educational providers (initially focusing upon schools
and academies).
 The service has been developed with the input of qualified teaching and child care
service professionals including a school principal and a previous Head of Children and
family Services with over 50 years combined operational experience.
 It is an innovative concept, and unique within the UK as an approach to tutoring children
and young people within the education system.
 As an extension of the Accelerate Learning Tuition Centres the Mobile Tuition will work
with the same ethos and principles, and will adopt accelerated learning techniques and
methods in its delivery of bespoke services.
 The flexibility of the tuition packages would be ideally placed to help address issues of
inequalities between pupils from a poorer background and their more affluent peers.
 Engaging pupils through an exciting unique class room experience
 By providing a unique service to schools tailored to their needs
 Becoming a recognised resource for allocating government funding
 Providing after school childcare provision at an affordable rate
 Providing flexible and bespoke courses meeting the needs of schools
 Providing a cost effective resource to enrich the school curriculum
 Providing a resource that engages pupils and excites
 Helping pupils reach individual targets in Maths and English
Central Government has also introduced an additional incentive for schools to
use the Pupil Premium to make a real difference to the attainment of
disadvantaged pupils:
• Awards of up to £10,000 are being offered at the annual Pupil Premium Awards
for schools that have done the most to boost the attainment of their
disadvantaged pupils. Pupil premium has risen to £900 per pupil in 2013-14.
• The Government has recently introduced a Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy
Catch-Up Premium (Year 7 Premium).This provides a sum of £500 for each Year 7
pupil who does not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or maths (maximum
£500 per pupil) at Key Stage 2. (Around 110,000 pupils failed to reach that expected level last
summer, including up to 10,000 across Merseyside)
National research shows that children who have been eligible for Free School
Meals at any point in their school career have consistently lower educational
attainment than those who have never been eligible.
April 2011 the Government introduced a new funding stream for schools,
additional to main school funding, called The Pupil Premium. This funding is
specifically allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered
for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’).
• Available funding has not been ring fenced, although it is specifically
intended that schools will deliver additional tuition or intensive support in
small groups, helping bring pupils up to speed so that they are more likely to
succeed at secondary school.
• The £500 premium per pupil would enable schools to pay for approximately
14 hours of one-to-one tuition to those identified pupils.
• Whilst there is a commitment to ongoing funding the total funding will vary
from year to year depending on the Key Stage 2 results each year.
• If a school was to use our services for 1 day we could cater for 4 sessions with 20
children in each session. The cost of the server per child equates to only £8.75 per
child.
• If a school was to book Accelerator for 30 days throughout the year this would only
equate to £262.50 per child. By utilising allocated Pupil Premium to fund our service
you would only be using only 30% of the allocated funding per pupil for 30 bespoke
accelerated learning experience days on our bespoke ‘Accelerator’ mobile
classroom.
• Up to £50 million of the Pupil Premium will fund a Summer School programme for
disadvantaged pupils to support their transition to secondary schools in
September 2013.
• Whilst schools are able to decide how to use the Pupil Premium they are held
accountable for the decisions they make through:
• the performance tables which show the performance of disadvantaged pupils compared with
their peers
• the new Ofsted inspection framework, under which inspectors focus on the attainment of pupil
groups, in particular those who attract the Pupil Premium
• the new reports for parents that schools now have to publish online
The allocation of the above funding streams provide an opportunity for
‘Accelerate Learning’ our services to assist those schools and pupils in receipt of
and accountable for measured outcomes related to local and centralised
priorities and initiatives by:
 Providing a unique and engaging resource to schools in meeting centralised
performance targets and initiatives
 Promoting partnerships
 Providing measurable outcomes highlighting benefits of the project
• Fully vetted and CRB checked staff
• The ‘Accelerator’ will be staffed by teaching qualified teaching
professionals (QTS, Recognised Teaching Certification)
• Experienced teaching assistants
• Qualified Tutors to Degree level
• HGV qualified unit supervisor/teaching assistant (Ex-Military Personnel)
