The Titanic was a large British ship that set sail in Southampton, UK on
its way to New York City, US. It was one of the largest disasters in
history. It was the largest ship of that time. The ship unexpectedly
struck an ice berg. An ice berg is a large body of ice. The ice berg
caused water to flood the lower levels of the Titanic. As more and more
water filled the titanic, the boat began to sink. They saved as many
people as they could by using their life boats, but there were so many
people on the ship it was impossible to save everyone.

Directions: Write a statement about the Titanic sinking using the words
volume and mass. Your statement should show an understanding of the
vocabulary words weight and mass.

game. The box had a mass of 7 kilograms. She tripped
and fell and spilled some of the drinks in the box. She
spilled drinks with a total mass of 2,000 grams. How
many kilograms did the box now weigh?
