What do we do?
Instructor Pathways Learn to Sail Pathways We aim to develop a network of quality instructor's across Australia who can deliver quality training to participants, resulting in safe mass participation in sailing.
Education and Training Responsibilities Yachting Australia
Develop and manage national policies and programs, in consultation with the states to
increase the number of people sailing safely
at member clubs.
State Associations Discover Sailing Centres Accredited Instructors
Manage and provide local service to Centre’s and instructors in implementing the Discover Sailing Learn to Sail (and Powerboat) programs Manage the learn to sail (and powerboat) programs for customers in accordance with the Yachting Australia Operating Standards and Guidelines.
Deliver courses to customers in accordance with the Yachting Australia Operating Standards and Guidelines
Instructor Pathway Instructor Assistant Instructor
Support instructors in the delivery of the Dinghy and Windsurfing program Introduce and teach new skills and knowledge, as set out in the course syllabus
Senior Instructor
Employed by the states to train, develop and qualify instructors
Chief Instructor
Employed by YA to set standards, syllabi, develop resources and deliver senior instructor training
Learn to Sail Pathway
Instructor pre-requisites
• Applied First Aid • Program Competency • Powerboat Handling Certificate • 16 years old • Abide by state legislation • State Licence
Inclusive Instructors
The general principles of instructing are the same no matter who your participants are.
The fundamentals of inclusion and how to adapt training is applicable to all instructors and is delivered through our entry level instructor courses.
Education on inclusion is relevant to everyone .
