ABOUT THE RALLY
•
•
•
•
Women’s Rally to the Valley is not the RACE - - It is the Rally in TSD format
(Time, Speed & Distance)
In this event you’re driving and navigational skills are of utmost important.
The directional clues called Tulips are given in the road book with distance
and average speeds.
(Road book will be given to you one minute before your start time.)
•
There will be number of Time Controls to monitor your timings at
undisclosed locations/distances on the route (Max 16)
•
The timings will be noted in full minutes, that is, if you arrive at
10:07:00 or 10:07:59, your check in and check out will be 10:07.
•
•
The ideal time is calculated between two TCs, by using the formula,
Time (in minutes) = Distance (in KM) x 60 / Avg Speed (in KMPH)
TIME CONTROL: (TC)
• A TC is identified with a Banner with a red background displaying a clock.
• Each TC will have WIAA umbrella manned by Marshals wearing
green/yellow ponchos having synchronized time clock.
• TC will always be on left hand side of the road. Participating team will
stop at this TC and present the
• Participant’s Time Sheet to the Marshal for entering the time of arrival
which will be noted on the Marshal’s Time Sheet and signed by both.
• At TC do not come out of your vehicle and wait in queue if there is a car
ahead.
• The check-out time at TC is same as your check-in time.
• The time recorded will be the time of crossing the line by vehicle at TC or
in case of pile up the Marshals will note the timings when you join in the
queue and accordingly give time.
• Please check the timings noted before leaving the TC.
Tulip:
Tulip is symbol to guide you to follow direction of travel. Each tulip is read
in sequence 1…10 so on
Each tulip is read from bottom to top and to follow the direction of
arrow.
For instance at ‘T’ junction, turn right would look like this
At roundabout, it would look this….

CALCULATION:
The time calculations are based on average speed given for section of kilometers.
Say if average speed given as 0 -5 kms and avg speed 30kms/hrs., you will need to
calculate time taken for each kilometer. i.e.
Formula:
(a)
60 = (Time for each km) X Distance = Total Time
Avg speed
•
•
60 = (2) X 5 = 10 (min)
30
•
60 ÷ 30 = 2 X 5 = 10
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
(b)
To convert decimal units into seconds…
60 = 1.33
45
(The Decimal unit is in 100, we need to convert into minute where time unit is 60.
In this case .33 is in 100 units, we need to convert into seconds)
.33 X 60 = 19.8 (seconds)
So time is 1minute 19seconds per kilometer
